The college thing, that is. Not that I don't want to go back -- I do, a whole lot -- but I wasn't even contemplating doing anything about it at the moment until this morning.

The current plan is to try and get back into the weekender program at the same college I applied to last time. But first, financial aid! I'm out of the rehab program for my previous federal student loans and whatnot, so hopefully I can actually GET financial aid this time. If my credit is good enough that I don't need a co-signer for a new car, I don't see why I can't get financial aid to go back to school and finish a degree, damn it. Hmph.

Anyway, last time I tried this I was going to major in computer tech, but if I'm going to do it this time I want to major in communications, for crying out loud. I'd like to minor in a language, preferably German, but the place I'd like to go doesn't offer it, so I figure I'll stick with digital media as a minor since it'll probably come in handier.

Aaaand I figure I'll try to start in January, if I can even get to go. The downside is that I may have to try to get a different day job before then. Actually, no, stuff that, that may not even be a downside. I am ... not particularly happy with my day job right now.

Then again, it could turn out that I won't even be able to go, and even if I do that's just one more thing to dig into my writing time and the pathetic joke that passes as a social life. Still, though ... college!

... er, I should probably go write before I have no time whatsoever to write. Le sigh.

I think it's great that you want to finish your degree. How far through did you get? And can all your previous courses be cross-credited? I've studied in New Zealand and the UK, so I don't really know how the American college system works.

Look into other financial help like Pell Grants. I'm sure there are several out there to help you finish your education.:)

If you're out of default on your student loans, you are eligible for Title IV, the end. (And your current loans will go into deferment, meaning that the government will pay the interest on your subsidized loans and you'll have the same option of paying the interest quarterly or else capitalizing as always on your unsubsidized loans.) No credit checks whatsoever unless/until you get to the grad school place and start taking out PLUS loans. *waves the student loan pom-poms*

EDIT: Also, I apparently fail at social interaction tonight, so, yes, absolutely congratulations and good luck on getting back into school, and also what the above poster says about Pell grants. Student loan debt might be more stable than just about any other kind, but it still ain't fun.

Um. I kinda accidently defriended you at some point, and have no idea how? And am really, really sorry? And am using a lot of question marks?
