I can't remember hearing this before (and let's face it -- if I had, the ranting would have begun immediately), but I was listening to Don and Mike today on the radio and heard the following.
Jim Carrey ... in a "Six Million Dollar Man" movie.
*headwall*
With that in mind, a poll ...
[Poll #264748]
EDIT: I just realized I used "fanboy" as a verb. Huh.
BRIDE OF EDIT: You know, I voted for the fourth option, because my Jake love knows no bounds, but I can't say that this pisses me off too too much. 'Cause Jim isn't that bad of an actor, when you give him a chance, and besides, there's always Keanu Reeves as John Constantine and Halle Berry as "Catwoman" to fall back on if I want to have casting nightmares.
Jesus, when I put it that way, I suddenly feel insane amounts of love and devotion for Jim Carrey as Steve Austin. Make it stop. *whimpers*

It's going to be a complete spoof of the original

Liar Liar
Bruce Almighty
The man does have talent. He's just taking longer to get out of his "stupid ass schtick that makes stupid ass money" phase than Robin Williams did. But he's following the same path Williams took almost step for step. Robin Williams jumped around like a hyper maniac [and he was because he was all coked up in his youth, and Carrey, far as I know, is not] for years before he became the Oscar Caliber actor he is now.
Carrey just tends to go for the money roles now first, and then take the roles that will let him show off his depth when he's lined his pockets.
If they don't go the Brady Bunch road with this movie and mock it, it will be decent. If they go the Charlie's Angels route with this movie and amp up the good part, and make gentle fun of the rest, it may actually rock.

Date: 2004-03-17 08:41 pm (UTC)It doesn't help that they just got finished yanking a perfectly good knockoff in "Jake 2.0" off the air. And Lee Majors being in an episode doesn't make it look any better. The man could still totally pull it off. Yeah, he's older, but he's still infinitely cooler than Jim Carrey.

Date: 2004-03-17 10:26 pm (UTC)Jim Carrey just... bores me. He very occasionally does good stuff, and I'm not entirely sure that the bad stuff is his fault. And "Earth Girls Are Easy" is just amusing.
