-- John McCain Working with 'Hate Group' Family Research Council to Roll Back or Block 'DADT' in 2011

What the hell is WITH John McCain, honestly? I mean, I know he's a sniveling worm, but still. I just keep thinking that for all of Obama's flaws, he got the DADT repeal passed, and he let it happen in such a way as it's going to be a bitch for someone like McCain to reverse it. And if McCain were president, we wouldn't have that.

I just keep remembering a comment I saw on AfterElton where someone said that McCain was being interviewed and was asked about his son's position on DADT (his son's serving in the military), and he sort of grumbled some BS answer that sort of implied his son supports repeal. Picturing what would happen if DADT came up at Christmas in the McCain house is amusing me far more than it should. :D (I could totally see Meghan being the bitchy one to bring it up.)

-- Speaking of politics, I'm really sick and tired of elderly people who call into my line at work (it's a Medicare Part D call center, as a reminder) feeling free to tell me all about how they blame Obama for things like their premiums rising which the health care reform didn't affect. Blame him for the fact that IRMAA now applies to Part D as well, although you might want to thank him for your $250 coverage gap rebate checks and that there won't be a coverage gap anymore while you're at it.

Although I will give a gold star to the woman who complained about Part D and then surprised me by saying, "This is one of the worst things Bush ever did!" And +5 points for remembering Bush was president when Part D started, ma'am. :D

(Yesterday one woman wouldn't even call Obama by name. She kept calling him "that man." Which is better, I suppose, than what I was terrified she would call him, which was "that boy." I take calls from the Midwest. Some people push the boundaries on that sort of thing.)

-- I paid off my mom! She wasn't home last night so I left a check at the house for $800, which she said was all I needed to pay her to be free and clear. And I did, and now that is one less debt I owe.

And then she called this morning to say thank you, and to say that she's proud of me for paying it off so soon, AND that she's so happy I'm starting school again she could cry. So that started off the day quite nicely. :D

-- I splurged a little bit and picked up a jacket I saw at Wal-Mart that was basically made out of the same material as the sherpa blanket that Otis has commandeered. IT'S SO FLUFFY. I kind of want to wear it all the time.

-- Thanks for the pep talk the other day, you guys. I needed it, and I really appreciated it.

*hugs you all*
