So, yeah. Halle Berry being replaced as Storm. *Nelson laugh* I guess that's what you get for being a skanky wench, you ... uh, skanky wench.

And I've already seen Angela Bassett's name come up, which doesn't make me as defensive of her chances for the role as I used to be. And I'm not saying that because she's a bad actress, because she isn't. And I'm not saying that because she'd make a bad Storm, because she wouldn't. My personal problem, if I were in charge of the last movie, is that bumping off Jean and moving in Bobby, Rogue (hopefully), and I'm assuming Colossus in some respect (because he's on IMDB, and don't argue with me because I really, really want him to be there) sort of drops the average age of of the team. Kurt might even it out a bit. I know this sounds stupid, but maybe I'm the only one who think it'd look weird ... a handful of people in their twenties (yes, even Cyclops is young and pretty enough to count, even though James is a year or two past thirty) aaaaaaaand Storm. Talk about the odd man out in that group.

Of course, anything better's than Halle. Hell, my Jerry Garcia plushie could do a better job. And Christina Milian's not a bad choice, I think. The only problem I can foresee is making her look old enough to look like she could have been the other kids' teacher, but she really only has to look a few year older, and you slap the right clothes, makeup and hairstyle onto anyone and it'll make anyone look older.

It does make for a funny mental image, though ... what Jean'll have to say? Just picture it. She comes back from the dead, sees Storm, and basically has an OMGWTFSTFULOLBBQ moment. "Storm! You're younger! You're prettier! I don't hate you! And why is the room less stiflingly overstuffed -- hey, where the hell did your ego go?!"

EDIT: I love the way both newspapers are behaving over this. Not because it's mature journalism or anything -- and I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron -- but because in my head, I can totally see the Daily Bugle and the Daily Planet pulling crap like this. *snerk* Comics have killed my brain cells.

The way Halle's career is going, she's going to be selling Tupperware door to door in the next few years. Mark my words.

I don't necessarily have any issues with Halle Berry... but I *hate* when they replace characters with new actors/actresses. If she isn't coming back then I think they should just take Storm out... there are plenty of other characters they can use instead.

Just a personal pet peeve picked up from years of soap opera watching...

Good point. Especially considering how much Storm kinda sucks.

Then again, my perfect X-Men team is Cyclops (because he's the leader and he's good at it), Wolverine (because he's contractually obligated to be on every X-Men team), Iceman (because he's my favorite, damn it), Colossus (because really, why wouldn't you bring a gigantic metal Russian into battle with you?), Jubilee (because I love her, damn you), and Beast (because it isn't an X-Men team unless at least one of them is blue).

Hmm. Is it just me, or does anyone else have a mental image of half of my team mock-threatening to put refrigerator magnets on the other half, with Cyke trying desperately to restore order?

I don't want to open my front door to find Halle Berry standing there. I have nightmares that start like that.

And end like that, quite frankly. *shudder*

AAAAAAAH! You did NOT just say Storm sucks! :: sobs :: Storm is my favorite X-Men character. She rocks! Her powers are cool, and her paradoxical nature makes her interesting to read about.

That's why I immediately forgive you for saying she sucks, because you're the bearer of the good news that Halle is going bye-bye. ;-) I hope they write Storm's character better in the future; she's NOTHING like that in the comics (all angry, whiny, and ansty).

Response to [profile] ladybug218: I wonder if we'll get a voice-over a la soaps when the new Storm appears on-screen... "The role of Ororo Monroe will now be performed by ...." Heh.

Well, let me put it this way. In the comics, I normally have no opinion on Storm. I don't love her, but I don't hate her, either. She's not all that bad, most of the time. (Although she does have her moments when she pisses me off, but when hasn't that happened with each of the X-Men?)

Halle, however, has made me loathe Movie!Storm.

Oh man, movieStorm is completely terrible. I'll stand by you on that one. That's my one peeve with the movies; they took my favorite character and made her into a whiny little bitch.

I really want to review Catwoman because crapfests like that make for funnier reviews, but I sooooo have to buy a ticket for something else. Probably A Home at the End of the World, because I think we can all agree that Colin's cock could use all the money it can get.

I like Cyclops and Wolverine and Iceman (yes, I'm shallow, they are hot).

I am not familiar with Colossus (because he was in the movie for 5 seconds), Jubilee (same reason), and Beast (was he even in the movies? I never read the comics... only became a fan when the movies came out.

I also like Rogue. And I liked Nightcrawler. I didn't have a problem with Storm, but she wasn't my favorite.

When is X3 scheduled to come out anyway? I'm guessing they haven't even started shooting yet.

hahahahhaha - that would be amusing :)

Likely though, they will just refer to her by name like six or twelve times in 30 seconds so we know who she is :)

Alas, his cock was edited from the final cut. Too distracting. The director said it won't be on the DVD either.

My quick literature major nerd plug-At Home at the End of the World is one of my favorite books, so I'm first in line (half excited/half dreading the debacle).

*snerk* Yes ... yes, they are. (And Shawn Ashmore has an identical twin brother. There's two of that face. Mmmmm.)

and Beast (was he even in the movies? I never read the comics... only became a fan when the movies came out.

You know when the guard was in the bar right before Mystique approached him, and they had a guy in glasses on the TV talking about mutants? That was Beast. Admittedly, the normal-looking version, but still, that was Hank McCoy.

When is X3 scheduled to come out anyway? I'm guessing they haven't even started shooting yet.

According to IMDb, the script is still in development. They need to hurry. I'm going through new-X-Men-movie-canon withdrawal. *says the girl who sat through the first two showings of X2 in a row*

Where did you get this information on replacing Halle? I've heard rumors and rumors of rumors, but nothing definite. I'd personally go for Thandie Newton, because despite her pixie-ish exterior, she has a great Go To Hell look that befits royalty. It seems that Bryan Singer et al have forgotten that Ororo IS royalty, dammit. She should act like it.
There was an article on Super Hero Hype (I haunt that site for comic book movie news - http://www.superherohype.com) that Sir Ian had posted on his website that he wasn't signed for a third movie, but he will be back; and that Hugh was signed for three and my boy Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming) was signed for X2 and X3.

I want some Storm (whomever it may be) and Kurt Wagner action.

<3333333333333333 Beast. You can't beat a big, furry blue guy in his underwear swinging from pipes on the roof and stunning everyone with how much smarter than them he is.

Your team would kick ass. Um, after Cyke got everybody to stop playing with the 'fridge magnets. (Although have funny mental image of Colossus getting distracted mid-fight by 'fridge magnet on his ass.)

I don't like movie!Storm. And even comics!Storm is starting to really bug me, though she did have one kick-ass moment in this new issue of Ultimate X-Men, where she, like, threatened this tattoo artist and was all like 'MOTHER NATURE IS A MUTANT AND SHE WILL KEEL YOU!' ...yeah. That was cool.

But I hate it when they change the actors.

Dude. Your team rules. I heart Colossus very much. And Jubilee. Though I do like Kurt more than Hank. (See my latest journal entry for a really good reason to love Nightcrawler.) I have the hugest crush on Bobby, because a few issues ago in my Ultimate X-Men comic he was teaching Rogue to skate and he was all 'guess how old Kurt Cobain was when he died' and... yeah, it was very cute. Especially when she guessed '40.'

...I'm going to shut up now and maybe reply to some of the other comments in this entry and make it a big spamfest. Wee!

And Toad was is awesome. (Can you say denial?) So, so, awesome. I like the Brotherhood anyway. Especially Toad. And to some extent Pyro.
