After that last post, I need to let off a little bit of anger. So, something happier. Which romantic movie moment do you wish someone would do for you?

Personally, the field full of daffodils in Big Fish absolutely kills me. Although I could also add the wedding video in Love Actually to the list, but that could go either really sweet and romantic or kinda creepy and stalkerish.

I second Big Fish, but if I needed to pick a runner up, I would choose . . . ::drum roll of cheesiness:: . . . the end of She's All That.

I've always thought Lloyd Dobler was perfect, if slightly obsessed, so there's the boombox scene from Say Anything. And the part where they're in the car and he starts shaking because he's happy. And the part where he writes her this perfect love letter.

But then, I've always thought Duckie Dale was perfect, if slightly obsessed, but there's not much he did that was especially romantic, besides be awesome and cool.

I started to type an answer, then stopped to think, and then realized that I actually can't remember any romantic movie moments outside of The Princess Bride. Oh dear. I need to stop watching so many downers.

but...

sorry.. anyway- _Say Anything_: I think Lloyd is such a sweet romantic & there are so many great moments- the boombox being the best, but there's the answering machine & the letter too. :) I *love* your icon, BTW. :)
_Pretty in Pink_: Duckie was sweet when he showed up at the dance, yes? He was goofy, but sweet. :) Such adoration.

Ooh, the answering machine. Love that. & thanks! You can steal my icon, if you'd like. Just credit me in the keywords.

Aiie, the dance. I cry the second 'If You Leave' starts to play. Every time. [& I've seen Pretty in Pink, like, 12 times. At least.] I want a Duckie of my own.

This is a tough one.

I like the daffodils in theory, because it's sweet, but in reality -- where would I put them?

I like the boombox except they were broken up and Lloyd was trying to get her back, and I would rather have something romantic done for me straight off than as a "please come back."

Duckie, though -- everything that boy did was because he was in love, right down to showing up at the dance. I loved Duckie.

I think I liked the wedding bit at the beginning of Love Actually, though -- the fact that their friends had an orchestra stashed in the audience unbeknownst to either of them. That would turn an already romantic moment into the closest thing to perfect.

Tough call. I may have to revisit this when I'm more awake.

Probably the guy who would learn a whole new language so he could ask me to marry him, also a la Love Actually.

I'm a sucker for any kind of flowers, so the daffy-down-dillies would definitely assure Mister Big Fish of some really good lovin' -- Okelle style! That movie made me cry, by the way, as my own relationship with my father is very conflicted, especially since he died 15 years ago.

One of the reasons I left my partner of five years was because she never ever ever sent me flowers to my office, in spite of repeated subtle and not-so-subtle hints that I would really really dig it. Once I go back to dating, I wholeheartedly expect prospect to pass both the unlocking-the-driver-side-door-after-I-let-them-in test, and the sending-flowers-to-me-at-the-office test.

... This probably isn't the moment for a crassly male comment.

So I therefore will not be describing that bit in that porn movie where the guy turns up to deliver the pizza and both the hot chicks simultaneously decide that, really, it's far too much effort to just turn down the thermostat.

I want my boyfriend to humiliate himself for love, a la Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You. I also want him to be able to sing that well while humiliating himself.

I'd be happy if a guy would just *look* like Heath Ledger in 10 Things I hate about You. With the addition of an accent or the ability to carry a tune, I might spontaneously combust.

I'm not sure I could cope with a guy who looked like Heath Ledger. I'd never be able to have a conversation with him.

He: "So, what sort of music are you into?"
Me: *drool*

This is sort of halfway off topic and halfway on topic: My husband and I are renewing our vows this weekend, and our friend who is also our GM is doing the honors, since he's a pastor.

He jokingly threatened to do the "Wuv ... twoo wuv... " bit from Princess Bride. And if some parts of our families had more of a sense of humor, we'd let him.

Ha! It's YOUR vows, gal. Ten years from now it won't matter what your family thought. DO EEEEET.

Nah, we have a really pretty ceremony planned already ... but I might see if I can get him to do it later once he's had some champagne. ;)

I'd like to be kissed unexpectedly and passionately in a Tuscan field full of barley and poppies, like Lucy Honeychurch in A Room With A View. It wouldn't hurt if the guy looked like Julian Sands, wither.

I second the daffodils in Big Fish. That movie makes me melt inside and cry like a big freaking baby because my dad had died like three months before I saw the movie, from cancer.

But anyway, since you already mentioned that one, I really liked the scenes in Life is Beautiful with Robert Benigni going into the schoolhouse where the pretty lady he was in love with taught and putting on that silly act...and the part where he goes into the banquet on a horse, snatches her away from the mean, controlling fiance, and they ride off into the town and live happily ever after...well, you know, until the Holocaust happens, but you know what I mean.

Awww, I'd have to pick the singing from 10 Things I Hate About You. Big hint: never watch that movie with somone like me- I can't help squealing over that scene.

Well there was that - no, that's a fantasy of mine, never seen it on TV. How about oh - fanfiction. That time he - no, that was a dream.

Aw crap. Either stuff from Inuyasha or Full Metal Panic. Killing people for love, and blowing stuff up is so romantic!

The scene at the end of Benny and Joon where Johnny Depp swings past the hospital window?
