I love Tom Lehrer and Muse, but then again, they fit my basic artistic requirements of singing about nuclear weaponry and imminent apocalypse.

Considering that, I'm amazed more people aren't afraid of me.

EDIT: Well, if nothing else, he makes me laugh. Not in a good way, but still.

WHINY PUNK TEENAGER OF EDIT: Pleeeeeeeeeease? I only need two more. *puppy dog eyes*

So long, Mommy, I'm off to kill a Commie, so send me a salami, and try to smile somehow!

You will all go directly to your respective Valhallas
Go directly. Do not pass GO. Do not collect two hundred dolla's!

May I have Tom Lehrer's snarkily brilliant babies, please? (Preferably by surrogate, but that's just me.)

Now that song is going to be running through my mind all night. I just love a good nuclear war hymn (even Weird Al's Christmas at Ground Zero).

Now I have that in my head.

I caved. I signed up for the iPod thing, created a second eBay account, faux-bid on an album I already own, and was promptly outbid. I hope you get your 'pod. :)

Yay for Tom Lehrer! It always makes me so sad when people haven't heard of him. Then again, that sadness is not nearly comparable to the pain I feel when I play him for someone and they don't like him.... But finding people who do is, conversely, a great joy! ;)

It's nice to see I'm not the only Tom Lehrer fan around here! For some reason, people look at me funny when I sing "We will all go together when we go, suffused by an incandescent glow" or "All the world seems in tune on a spring afternoon, when we're poisoning pigeons in the park."

That's where I'd heard of him! "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" is on the Hey, Mr. Producer CD. It was good, but I didn't find it as amusing as the "Duelling Pianos" number because I'm a musical theater geek like that.

Okay, you can rarely lose with Duelling Pianos, I'll grant you ;) But Tom Lehrer rules. "The Masochism Tango" is one of the truly great songs. As is the much more obscure "I'm Spending Hannukah in Santa Monica."

I'm spending Hannukah in Santa Monica
Wearing sandals, lighting candles by the sea
I spent Shavuos in East St. Louis
A charming spot, but clearly not the spot for me.
Those eastern winters I can't endure 'em
So every year I pack my gear and head out here 'til Purim
Rosh Hashana, I spent in Arizona
And Yom Kippur, way down in Mississippuh
But in November there's just one place for me
Amid the California flora, I'll be lighting my menorah
Think of Judas Maccabeas, if only he could see us
Spending Hannuakah in Santa Monica by the sea!

*snicker*

Of course, last year I spent the first night of Hannukah taking a final. Not fun.

And, lastly, I'm impressed. In my experience, you're the first person outside of a Broadway message board who's every heard of Hey, Mr. Producer!. A mixed album, but there's some priceless stuff in there.

*scuttles off to listen to Bernadette Peters' "Unexpected Song"*

Honestly, I've heard *of* "Hey, Mr. Producer" but I've never heard it. One of many useless bits of information I picked up somewhere.

and the terrorists know by his actions he means it

That sounds like he means "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." Yes, we all know that he means that.

*coughs*
It would be funny if it weren't so sad that dangerous idiots can have sp much power.

I've always wondered if I'm as twisted as I am because I grew up listening to his music.
