I've been there on the brain-dead shift scheduling. When I was working night shift at a pathology lab and they moved the people who arrived at 2am back to 6pm arrival with the rest of us, they decided the way to stop fights over the schedule change was to have 2 of us come in at 6pm, 2 at 7pm, 2 at 8pm, and the lady who won the argument got to come in at 10pm. This did not take into account that the bulk of the work arrived in the 6-8pm time slot and that we needed to have most of the people there by 6 or 7 but that there was only enough work for maybe three people from about 11pm onwards. (Our supervisors all worked during the day and so were pretty clueless about our actual working conditions, and balked whenever we tried to explain to them that their latest fiddly change was unhelpful.)
