So, I get the impression from everybody else that Kerry did very well at the debates, and Bush ... well, he was himself, like always. I'm not sure I would have watched even if I did have a TV, though, because while I want to stay informed and know what was said, I also can't stand to watch Bush lie, bullshit and stumble over his words. Here is the man who is supposed to be the prime example of a good American that we present to the world, and he can't get through a sentence without sounding like a fourth-grader trying to make a speech before the class about the social studies chapter he didn't read.

The worst part? A sick, deluded, obviously-a-glutton-for-punishment part of me is tempted to listen to the O'Reilly Factor to hear what that yahoo and his multitudes of slavering imbeciles have to say.

That has got to be the best and most accurate description of Bush I've ever read.

fallenangelfish : but also because he clearly didn't read the chapter in social studies class

If you can find a download, I would highly, highly recommend watching. I've never seen Bush caught off guard that frequently (the debate mod said before hand that neither candidate was being allowed to look at his questions ahead of time; now America got a chance to see how well their commander in chief does without his handlers), and Kerry was actually approachable. He smiled, made eye contact with the camera, was frequently taking notes (a marked contrast to Bush, who was relying on working his down home "charm" for all it was worth), and hardly resembled Lurch at all.

From: [identity profile] hereticorp.livejournal.com
I mentioned to my GF while we were watching that bit about the notes, you saw Kerry writing almost the whole time, Bush didn't start note taking till the last bit, and it didn't help him any.

I laughed when Kerry was standing there smirking at Shrub stumbling over his words though.

We have two of those page-a-day desk calendars at the bookstore where I work.

One is called: The Curious Misspeak of George W. Bush (and I sent it to [livejournal.com profile] feath as an un-birthday present).

The other is called: George W. Bushisms

When there are enough stupid quotes said by the President of the United States to fill two daily calendars two years in a row... well... why would we want to continue to let that man be president???

I'm not calling all conservatives imbeciles. But Bill O'Reilly is a jerk, and after listening to his show for the past couple of months, the number of people who kiss his ass and then say something stupid is staggering. (In fact, the percentage of intelligent questions that get asked on that show's not small by any means, but usually O'Reilly is quick to cut them off and give a lousy answer.)

You don't have to agree with the president to support him.

Just cause I am American doesn't mean I can't criticize America.

Also, not everyone has a God. Some people have Gods. Some people have none. That doesn't make people less American. In fact, I think America's strength lies in its diversity and acceptance of all different kinds of people.

As far as morals or strength of character go, I think all the candidates have strong morals. Morals don't have to be of a specific religion.

Additional newsflash. This is [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess' journal and not yours. If you don't like the opinions therein, please you know...don't read it.

In my opinion, Bill O'Reilly is an idiot. He is a rude, disrespectful, pseudo intellectual idiot. It has nothing to do with his politics and in fact I watched his show to be sociable with my roommate for some time before the election race and I thought he was a rude, disrespectful, pseudo intellectual idiot. His politics only make him more of an idiot, in my opinion, and the people who hang on his every word are imbeciles for putting up with him. Also in my opinion.

And having that opinion does not preclude me from having character.

correct correct--I LOVED how he didn't even have a concluding statement at the end of the last question in the debate...he "laughed it off" stumbled a bit over how "America knows how I feel about..." My brief recap of the debate:

KERRY: *lots of intelligent remarks about foreign policy. Iraq blunders. death statistics. this administration's mistakes*
BUSH: *twitch. stammer.*
KERRY: *Iran and North Korea have nuclear weapons (also pronounces 'nuclear' properly. What about the threat of _their) WMGs, beeyotch?*
BUSH: *urge to kill...rising*
KERRY: *Not flip-flopping. Darfur genocide. This administration's lies.*
BUSH:...I KEEL YOU, HOR!

It was an interesting debate for sure. I was horrified that Kerry would screw up, not be definitive (his points and positions arent hard to explain and every time he doesnt I get the urge to throw things) or he would look like a silver-spooned aristocrat. He came off pretty well, he could have elucidates a little more on some points, but Bush came off as either a moron to those of us with a normal to high vocabulary and IQ level, or as a strong defender and man of the people to the weak minded and weak willed.

Yeah, Bush did a horrible job, but we kind of stopped watching halfway through. I was watching in a dorm lounge and then the viewers started screaming about politics to each other instead of watching the pros, and naturally I was one of the ones who started the real-life "discussion."

P.S: Does anyone know what this "four-step plan" of Kerry's consists of? Just wondering...
