my sister and her girlfriend went to the funeral and stood between the mourners and the picketers.

I wish i lived in colorado at that time, as i would have loved to have been there as well.

picketing a FUNERAL? how sick are some people?

Right after this happened my history professor at the time was carrying a mug into class that had some kind of message on it supporting people like Matthew Shephard (I don't recall what it said), and this one dude in the front row said that he didn't think she should carry that supporting ONLY people like HIM, because people like him are sinners and that whole rap. We actually spent the entire hour on this because of this bonehead. The really ironic (and almost creepy) thing was that he looked exactly like Matthew Shepard himself.

Picketing at a funeral, good holy God...what exactly were they picketing, that his mother shouldn't cry for him? I can't believe just how wicked some "religious" people are.
