I love this flash electoral vote map that the LA Times put up. The downside is it changes the shape of your browser, but the upside is you can change the colors of the states until one of the candidates gets 270, at which point "Hail to the Chief" plays. :)

I'm bookmarking it for next Tuesday so that I can have something to play with while I watch the vote counts come in and drink.

EDIT: You know that chapter of The Monsters of Minooka I said I was going to finish about five days ago? It's finally done. Jeez, struggle to come out of my head, why don't you? *bounces up and down happily*

*looks down at pages printing in green ink* Urgh. I need to get black printer ink before NaNoWriMo.

I don't drink but...

...I probably would, too, watching the election results.

Good to numb yourself in advance, I guess.

Well, I'll be getting home at about ten that night, so I won't be "numbing myself in advance" so much as "getting home, hearing the winner and getting smashed no matter what."

Why do people "get smashed", anyway? I've never really gotten that.

Because sometimes the world is not a place which we wish to experience with perfect clarity. Getting totally hammered takes the edge off reality.

I only get smashed on special occasions, and even then, my idea of "smashed" is three Smirnoffs at the most. (Which really doesn't get me all that drunk.)

I drink for two reasons:

-- We're having a party with Smirnoffs and strawberry daiquiris and Jello shots, all of which I like the taste of.

-- I'm having dinner and feel like I want to have a Smirnoff with it.

Personally, I don't drink to get buzzed (well, except on this upcoming Tuesday) as much as I drink just because I like the taste of some alcoholic beverages.

[livejournal.com profile] artaxastra has been playing with this thing every day for weeks. It's fun, although at this point if I hear "Hail to the Chief" one more time, I may go berserk. *g*

I'm going to be watching the elections vicariously through my flist... somehow I don't feel like going down to the post and watching the coverage on AFN (if they're airing it, I'll be surprised if they're not though) in a room full of military types.

Cool map. There are ways around Florida for Kerry (and for the rest of us; please G-d, let's not leave it in the hands of Florida, one way or the other), but either way, it's really tight.

use a decent browser!

it doesn't change my browser window, because I use Mozilla, and (via the preferences) I don't allow my browser window to be resized. Or popups, or all sorts of other things :)

What strikes me as most interesting is that, when I fill in the undecided states according to the latest poll data (or, in the case of dead splits, for whichever party the state has historically voted for) Kerry wins.

Does that mean there's hope? *crosses fingers*

I'm glad I'm not the only one pondering vast quantities of alcohol for next Tuesday. I'm trying to decide if I want to hit the bar (upside: Hot and friendly bartender; downside: Having to drive home) or just sit at home and get smashed.

Dude, what's wrong with the Mountain time zone. Why are there so many red states there? Something's wrong with the water supply or something.
