Nov. 2nd, 2004 09:40 amSo, just called Mom. She's not sure whether she wants to vote, but she said there was no way in Hell either she or Dad would vote for Bush. Yay! I come from a good gene pool! (We had a mutual bitchfest about the war, and she told me a kid who was in seventh grade at my school when I graduated died over in Iraq. *growls in general direction of the White House*)
She also said my brother's going to vote later. Yay! Bryan's voting! He's actually leaving his chair in front of the Playstation and going to vote! *happy dance*
Sometimes, my family is very, very cool. :)

Date: 2004-11-02 06:53 am (UTC)I'm the only one in the family who gives a tinker's damn about actually going out and voting - well, I was until my dad realised that I was going ot vote - and vote Kerry, for that matter, and then tried to sort out his absentee ballots to vote Bush.
Sadly he's a moron and didn't manage to find the website with absentee ballot requests and I refused to help him or print out any copies.
If he cared that much, he'd hunt it down and find it himself -- it's not like it's particularly difficult, mind you.
Wanna switch parents?
ps - hi!

Date: 2004-11-02 06:58 am (UTC)Not today, I don't. I actually thanked her for not liking Bush, which is what led to us both calling him an asshole for a full minute. :)

Date: 2004-11-02 07:05 am (UTC)My mum is a bit of a...well, she doesn't...um, she's not good with The Big Picture. She listens to my dad and reads mostly right wing things and believes it because it was written THERE, and god forbid she pick up a different newspaper - ! But if I sit and talk to her and explain things and refrain from saying the name "Michael Moore", she conceeds a lot of points where she would normally go "pah!" and give no reason for the "Pah!'ing". Either way, she's not registered as an expat in this country yet and it's safer if she's not, so that's fine.
And yes, he is a MASSIVE asshole. They keep doing all these programs here on fundamentalist christian freaks and Bush is, of course, always popping up and his niggling annoying cloying little voice... *sees red*

Date: 2004-11-02 07:38 am (UTC)They need to go and vote for Kerry if they want Bush out of office. Our electoral votes are so important this year.
*sends psychic vibes encouraging them to vote*

Date: 2004-11-02 07:43 am (UTC)If I'm remembering correctly, I also taunted her with the fact that my brother's voting, and really, if he can vote, she should be able to, as well. (I love the kid, but he is the last person on the planet you'd ever think would vote, and considering she's always the first person to rag on him to get off his butt and do stuff ... well, I'm not above using guilt on my mother.)
*crosses fingers* Maybe I should harrass her all day until she swears to vote.

And, y'know... if you need backup... I'm sure you'd have plenty of volunteers!

Yud's mom: Well, at least she isn't a Democrat. You know your grandpa almost disowned your uncle Charlie when he married Jan (a democrat).
Yud: She is a Democrat.
Yud's mom: Oh. *awkward silence*
