I was flipping through the channels before and there was a rerun of "Step by Step" where Suzanne Somers was telling her son that she'd gotten a guy to come to his birthday party dressed as a pirate. And the little bastard had the nerve to protest.

Is it wrong that I was jumping up and down in front of the TV with my hand in the air, squeeing like crazy? Every time I think it is, I get a mental image of Captain Jack Sparrow showing up on my doorstep and my knees stage an anti-standing-up protest.

I couldn't help it, damn it! She said the word "pirate" and half of my muscles stopped working so that the rest of them could go spastic. This keeps up, and the next time I watch "The Princess Bride," I won't be able to put together a coherent thought without the help of a registered nurse and a year's supply of Play-Doh.

I think Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom have ruined me for the word "pirate". I feel like I got pulled on stage at a hypnotist's show and the next time someone says "abominable" or something like that, I'm going to do something silly like cluck like a chicken or do the Freddy or assassinate the President or something.
