Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] jrosestar, as written in The Drudge Report:

While talking with audience participants, the president met Mary Mornin, a woman in her late fifties who told the president she was a divorced mother of three, including a 'mentally challenged' son.

The President comforted Mornin on the security of social security stating that 'the promises made will be kept by the government.'

But without prompting Mornin began to elaborate on her life circumstances.

Begin transcript:

MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.

THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?

MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.

THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

*gapes*

... the hell? Yes, how cool and wonderful and patriotic is it that this woman has to work three presumably low-paying jobs just to get by? *heavy sarcasm*

*headsmack*

EDIT: In happier news, Yay! CBS has the website for TAR 7 up! I would find that link right as I have to go to work. Grrr.

My wish is that it was impossible for Congress to be able to raise their own goddamn salaries! Yep, that's right; pretty much every year, someone introduces a bill to increase the salary of Congress members, and it almost always passes. The few times that it hasn't, they've touted it as "staying in touch with the average American". ::spit::

And while I agree that it would be nice for the Prez to only earn minimum wage, that would just mean that no-one would run unless they had a pre-existing multi-million dollar fortune. Oh, wait....
