The trailer for 'Monster-In-Law --I don't think I need to say which was the only part of this trailer I didn't like.

Prince Charles is going to marry Camilla -- Well, good for them.

North Korea has nuclear weapons, and won't give them up because our government sucks. -- Yay! I may finally get my apocalypse! Oh, wait, that's a bad thing. (Especially considering if anything is getting nuked, it's DC, and I'm in prime radiation-sickness-and-future-cancer territory.)

An article on this season and the next season of TAR -- I'm seriously tempted to try out for season nine. Of course, I need to dig up a partner. (And get a freaking passport already.) I wonder if my mother would do it. *ponders*

EDIT: Oh, crap. The eighth season of TAR ... you know, the one with teams of four? You don't have to be over 21 to do it. I'm not thinking of asking my mom, dad, and brother to do this, am I? (Yes, yes, I am. *sigh*)

OTHER EDIT: Damn it, I don't think I can get a passport in time for the deadline. *headdesk*

See, this is why I tell my mother to be glad I live in the city. Because I'll die instantly in the initial blast, rather than a slow, painful death from radiation poisoning. Ah, the pros of urban living.

Looking on the upside, at least I'd actually witness it. Of course, if I'm looking in the wrong direction at the time of the explosion, my eyeballs will explode, but it'll be a story I can tell to my lobster-armed children.

On the plus side, North Korea would be fairly hard pressed to get one to rocket all the way over here, from what I understand of the tech level. Still, doesnt make me happy either. Why am I moving closer to the city again?

Last time I checked, passports could be expedited in less than two weeks, for an extra charge.

And if you live near one of the major passport offices (which you've *got* to, where you are) you could get them in even less time. (A coworker faxed an application on a Wednesday, drove to Atlanta to pick up the passport on Friday. Flew out of Atlanta that evening.)

Granted, this info is from before 9/11.

I think my only problem right now with the whole Season 8 thing (aside from the level of frantic I'd get tossing together the entire application for my family in a month, 'cause God knows I'd have to if I want to do this) is that I'm not sure if my dad would say yes. I know my brother would, since he's already said he'd do the two-team version with me, I think I can talk my mom into it with a sentimental "C'mon, we've never had a girl's trip together," but my dad's the most questionable one (not for the traveling bit, just for the TV camera thing). It may just be easier if I get a passport now and worry about convincing my mom to do Season Nine with me when it comes up.

*snerk* I can't believe I'm seriously considering this. :)

You know, I've never seen TAR, being that we don't get it in England or not on a channel and at a time that I've ever noticed. But I still think you'd be great on it. Just cause.

Also, I squeed much too hard when I found out about Charles finally marrying Camilla. Cause really, I don't care what the royals choose to do with their lives unless it's go clubbing and get drunk with friends who think that Natives and Colonials is a good theme for a party (*glares at stupid stupid prince*). But something about that strikes me as deeply cute...

You should invite Bill O'Reilly to be your partner for TAR. Imagine the publicity.

The part with J.Lo in it? [/innocent look]

And the 4-person/family season of TAR? Does it require that you all be immediate family members? 'Cause if not, you could try to get a cousin or aunt/uncle or grandparent to do it with you.

Suitcase nuke. IIRC, there are still plenty missing from the USSR breakup, and one of them suckers is capable of devasting a fair-sized city, if not the surrounding areas.

Nope, as long as they're vaguely related it's okay. The example Phil gave on the Early Show was that "futre in-laws" could apply. The only immediate family connection necessary is that kids under 18 have to have a parent/legal guardian with them.

Yeah, I've looked into it. If TAR was only open to Canadians I'd be seriously trying to convince my family to apply.

As a reader (and enjoyer) of your LJ, I think the amount of times you've posted "Guess what my brother has done now" polls might indicate that he's a less than ideal partner for TAR. I mean, one car wreck/twisted ankle/knocked up girlfriend and you're toast.

And huge sympathies on living in a fallout area. ~looks out back window and sees Cheyenne Mountain/NORAD~ Yeah, I know how you feel.

You know, I'm perfectly happy for Charles and Camilla. What I'm not happy about is all the bloody pundits who are mouthing off about how Charles shouldn't get married again because he caused the breakup of his previous marriage. Because, yeah, he really caused the breakup in the way he didn't chain Diana up in the cellar to stop her from shagging the England rugby captain and half the household cavalry (okay, two or three of the officers). Totally his fault that his wife was a serial adulteress and attention whore who drove him into the arms of another woman and then denied all responsibility for their problems.

... And I'm done. Maybe I should do one of those rant memes.

I 100% promise you can get the passport, if you have US Citizen ship and no major felonies. I got an aunt who works for the state department. They have a walk up offive here that can do it in under 10 days or so.

Let me know if you need to.
