I got up at seven-thirty and went to work to pick up the paycheck I was supposed to get. I walk in and Lieutenant Asshat immediately tells me they direct-deposited the check this morning. Well, great, that's a waste of two hours worth of travel time and walking.

Then I come home and check with my bank. Is my check deposited in my checking account? Of course not. Why would you think my check had been deposited in my checking account? Because the company that issues the checks told us it was?!

GIVE ME MY MONEY, BEE-YOTCHES. I am not waiting until fucking Tuesday to get a check and cash it. *seethes*

EDIT: Surprise, surprise, they fucked it up again. I'm getting a check tomorrow. Great, now I have to find a check cashing place in the area. Grrr.

{{{hugs}}} First, talk to HR or payroll and determine if the check was actually submitted. Second, if it was submitted this morning, it may not show up until the end of the business day. Ask your bank how it works with them.

Payday was yesterday, so I didn't even get a stub, and the first thing I did was turn to Lieutenant Asshat (who's the one who deals with the payroll department) and basically have a fit. (Not a good thing, considering Lieutenant Asshat is really a nice guy.)

He just called, though, and he apparently ripped HR a new one about the whole thing and told me it wasn't getting screwed up again. To which I said, "It better not." And then I growled. *sigh* He's about as exhausted of this shit as I am.

Well, I'm off to find an address for a check cashing place around here that's open on Saturdays. *eye roll*

Is there a branch of your bank that is open on Saturdays? Most banks open for a couple hours on Saturdays, or at the very least, have some branch somewhere that opens for a couple hours on Saturdays. You'd probably have more luck with in-store branches than not. You could also check with some banks, they'd probably be willing to cash your check for you, if open, especially if they're the bank that your company banks with. They were the ones who issued the check, after all.

I double-checked the hours of the branch of my bank nearest work and it's got Saturday hours until noon. Now let's just see if they can get my check to me by then.

Yes, but I can also take out money whenever I want, and I've proven in the past that that is a bad option for me to have, because I'm an irresponsible twit. :)

...you don't have an ATM card? OMG. See, my husband can't have *checks*, because then he just blithely writes them for everything and bounces ten in a month and generally makes a mess. But, ATM card, yes, because it checks before approving the debit. Heh.

Also, I reiterate yesterday's comment on this. Not that L.A. hasn't already thrown a fit on your behalf, but you should do so too--or if not a fit, a reasonable but forceful statement on the necessity of pay being accomplished correctly. It's not okay for them to pay you sporadically.

Don't get the check card option and don't bring it with you when you shop. You haven't really lived until you've gone to an ATM at 3:00 in the morning.

If there is a Bank of America nearby they sometimes cash paychecks for a five dollar fee even to non customers...
