Apr. 9th, 2005 05:47 pmFor anybody who's missed it, I have to say I'm loving the Leah's Way wankfest between the reviewer and the publisher. It's like the publisher has a book entitled "How Not To Respond To A Horrible Review" and is checking off every stupid behavior as she goes down the list.
Also, if I hear anybody use the phrase "culture war" one more time, I'm going to puke. And what exactly does a culture war entail? Shooting at each other by firing copies of the first season of ALF on DVD from a cannon? Flinging explosive bottles of Red Bull at unsuspecting passerby? Playing Ashlee Simpson's album on a boom box in public until the other side's ears start to bleed? What?
In any event, just got back from seeing Sahara. It's not the best movie in the world, but if Matthew McConaughey and Steve Zahn want to get together for a sequel to be snarky and adventurous, I'd get in line for that. They both looked like they were having a blast. Also, Matthew McConaughey starts out the movie in a pair of black swim trunks and then beats the crap out of three guys. He wins at life. :)
EDIT: The first four minutes of this week's Arrested Development are up on Yahoo. Hee! I love Ron Howard.

Date: 2005-04-09 10:19 pm (UTC)UPDATE: Well, maybe just a little more. I did a little digging into "Windstream Publishing," Sue Eccleston's imprint, and discovered just why she's so intent on defending the publication of Leah's Way. It seems that Windstream only publishes the one book, and does it from Danville, California...which just happens to be where the book's author, Richard Botelho, lives. In fact, Botelho's also the contact person listed for Windstream in the PMA directory. Looks like the book's self-published... (http://www.tobiasbuckell.com/archives/001511.html)
