So you're cleaning all the pollen off your TV screen and a genie pops out. In return for freeing her, she offers to grant you 5 changes to any TV show(s) you wish. With only 5 wishes, what do you wish for?

Highlander -- Richie didn't die. In fact, since it's my wish, Duncan died instead, and the rest of the show was Richie, Methos, Joe, and Amanda during a road trip.

Jake 2.0 -- To see the rest of the season, because they had an ending planned, and damn it, I wanted to see the finale.

Charmed -- Chris never died. He could have hung around, he could have gone back to the future, but as long as the camera followed him where he went, I'd be happy.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel -- Spike never regained a soul but still hung around anyway, Angel had just been allowed to raise Connor as a baby and get silly once in a while, Oz stayed, Tara and Wesley lived, and Buffy had gotten to stay a real person instead of a FEMINIST ROLE MODEL in the end.

Lost -- Kate dead, Jack as a secondary character, Shannon turning out to be pregnant by Boone from that one-night stand and being alternately pissed about it and wanting it, somebody actually acting like they might be there a while and building some huts, and answers. Any answers.

Wait, is that too long of a wish?

Wasn't Shannon and Sun building hut like things a few episodes ago? Not very good hut things, mostly plastic.

True, but it didn't look like they were going for anything long-term.

Except for the first two things, I wouldn't be surprised to see all of your Lost wishes come true. Maybe having two pregnancies on the island would be repetitive, but how else are they going to remind us Shannon slept with her stepbrother now that Boone's not around for awkward tension?

I can see her finding out that she's pregnant and absolutely flipping out. She'd go nuts because she can't get an abortion, she have a fit trying to figure out how to tell everyone who the father was, she'd get upset thinking about how Boone won't be able to see it -- basically the exact opposite of Claire.

I could see them going the opposite way with her pregnancy as well. As easily as Claire gave birth (well, relatively), Shannon's could just go way off track, the baby could die ... I honestly could see the writers taking that happy ending we got with Claire and just royally fucking it up with Shannon.

I agree with this. I was so upset when Richie died. It was very uncool. >:{

You know, for a character so many people seemed to loathe, I hardly know a HL fan who wasn't pissed about his death.

Then again, I loved the little bugger. He was adorable. Not to mention that Stan Kirsch was a total sweetheart. All of the actors from the show were awesome, with the obvious exception of Adrian Paul, who was a complete ass.

I won't be happy till they build something with rope ladders, suspension bridges, slides and a toilet.

Highlander -- Richie didn't die.
Season six? What season six? Er, except for the Methos n' Joe buddy episode.
*dusts off old Clan Denial banner*

and Buffy had gotten to stay a real person instead of a FEMINIST ROLE MODEL in the end.
God, that would've been nice. In fact, I like all your suggestions, except for baby Connor. I loved the whole grown-up Connor arc. Babies tend to bore me.

Darn, now I'm gonna be mad if they don't do this. It's all your fault. You mentioned it. :)

I think I just wanted them to do something different with Connor. And Angel was adorable when he was doing the baby talk. I liked silly, new-clothes-dancing Angel. *sigh*

If it makes you feel any better, there's already a huge plotbunny standing on my left with a giant mallet that wants me to write that. (And he's working with the Shannon/Hurley plotbunny on my right. Both of them need to lay off. *tries to shuffle away and is cornered by angry bunnies*)

Chris never died

Change it to Cole never died lol... pretty evil Cole and his other ego, loved them both.

Otherwise, yes to Buffy...(can we kill Dawn?) and everything else.

Let's compromise -- keep Chris and Cole, lose the sisters. Because I love the guys, but the girls lost their appeal to me a long while ago. :)

Oh yeah... I'm so tired of of all of them, actually I mostly just read about it on TWoP anymore...
Chris/cole slash... I'm in lust.

Wasn't Richie dying that bugged me

It was just a really shitty way (writing-wise) to die. Actually, that whole story arc sucked.

Oh, yes. I mean, Richie wasn't the sharpest tack in the box, but what kind of an idiot has a guy threaten to cut his head off twice, then sees him standing alone swinging his sword at imaginary people and walks right up to him?

Argh. Stupid writers.

Buffy was supposed to be a feminist role model in the last season?

Lordy loo.

Women are supposed to emulate a deluded whackjob?

(Face it, last few seasons, Buffy just didn't have all the tacos in her platter)

Cole was always an idiot. Keep Leo. He carried the show.

Oh, I agree with you. It's just too bad that's what the writers were trying to push.

Leo looks like a monkey. I haven't been able to watch his scenes since the first season he was on, when he still looked vaguely like he might be able to get back into the loincloth from Return from the Blue Lagoon.

Shannon-Hurley

Shannon: "Hey, um...Harley."
Hurley: "My name is Hurley. Well, not really, it's Hugo but just call me Hurley."
Shannon: "Owie, you made my brain hurt. I'm telling Sayid on you."

Presumably he couldn't see what was going on until it was too late. He did hallucinate Joe, so there was a precedent.

I don't know... What the hell was with Cole's hair in the Super Special 1,000,000th episode? Because that kind of scared me. Also, he acted as if he were on crack. Dead crack. Dead people shouldn't take crack. Ever.

But Chris...yum.

I so second all of these. (well except the Jake 2.0 one, cause I didn't watch it, I know shame on me)But I want to scream out the Buffy/Angel one, in fact in my head Wesley, Anya, and Tara all live, and Kennedy dies a horrible, horrible death.

Date: 2005-04-16 03:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Damn, I can't believe I forgot to add Anya living to that list. Probably because at that point, the writers had so disgusted me, I'd stopped watching.

And there's no shame in missing out on Jake 2.0. Just hopefully a wee bit of regret. ;)

All with the Highlander.

And Buffy- I mostly agree with your version. Except I like the "Connor coming back as a super strong vengeful teenager"part. And also? Have Angel turn into a puppet and then stay a puppet. Angel's cuter as a puppet than doing baby talk.

a big WORD on the Jake 2.0 love!

On Lost - if they built huts and/or did anything at all practical, then there wouldn't be nearly as much angst/despair. We certainly couldn't have them accept their situation and make the best of it, now could we?

Date: 2005-04-16 03:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
See, that's one of the biggest things that bugs me about Lost. The writers are treating it too much like a drama and less like a disaster. What I mean is, in situations like this -- and that's disregarding the weirdness of the island and focusing on the reality of the aftermath -- people aren't still sitting on the beach after a month waiting for Locke to bring them boar.

I could have bought the slacking off up to a point, in specific the point where Jack had that big speech after the water incident about them having to treat this like they're dead to the outside world. Honestly, at that point, they would have been presumed dead in the real world and they should have behaved accordingly by assuming not that they would be found by a pointed rescue specifically for them, but stumbled upon by accident by a fishing boat or something.

After that, someone -- I'd have picked Michael since he's got construction experience -- should have gotten started on building some solid huts. When Gilligan and the Skipper have a better housing situation, that's not right. The caves are good, but they're small, too small for forty people, and when the rainy season hits, the people on the beach are going to need a dependable roof over their heads. The raft is secondary, and quite frankly not a good idea. What they're building will be ill-advised for riding on unless there are always calm seas what with how flat it is, and at least one of them will have to have fishing expertise to keep them fed, which means that they'll have to take Jin and he seems to be the only one on the island who knows what to do with a net. (And the raft list so far is idiotic. Michael only built the damn thing, Walt doesn't know how to sail either, and Sawyer doesn't want to do shit. They have a better chance of dying than succeeding, so Michael's dumb for wanting to bring Walt and Sawyer's stupid for wanting to get involved in something that he won't want to help with that'll most likely get him killed.)

And on the food situation, the fact that forty people depend on Locke and Boone for boar and Jin for fish is moronic. They need protein, like Jack said. After a month, every able-bodied man on that island should be either hunting for boar or training to hunt for boar with Locke, and every able-bodied woman should be out learning how to hunt with Jin, even with the language barrier. And the only reason I'm dividing it up by the sexes is because the boars have already proven themselves to be really strong and pissed-off. If a woman wants to hunt boar instead of fish and vice versa with the guys, more power to her or him. This ridiculous dependence on three (and now it's down to two) people for their hunting abilities is not conducive to a successful survivalist community.

Hee. One day I'm going to be involved in a disaster situation, and all of this information is going to come in really freaking handy. ;)

Yes, yes, and yes. Exactly.

You have clearly thought this through much more thoroughly than I have, and should the occasion ever [unfortunately] arise, the others affected with you in a disaster situation will be very grateful/lucky to have you around, saving their hides. :)
