You know I just realized? I have no desire to watch Lost tonight. I'm not all excited like I normally am. I'm just all ... meh about the whole thing.

I blame Veronica Mars. You can't cram a marathon of an entire season of episodes in which something interesting or important happened every week into the weekend before seeing the beginning of a season finale for a show that's been touch-and-go for a whole year. It kind of ruins the excitement.

Bah. Maybe I'll watch it tomorrow morning. *shrugs*

Veronica Mars sort of ruins a person for everything else. (A show with only relevant flashbacks! Imagine that!)

Hee. Honestly, I thought Lost was only okay when I watched it-- and once I got hooked on Veronica Mars, I lost total interest. I stopped watching about halfway into the season; all the vague plotlines that were clearly going to go unresolved for ages just made me lose interest. Plus, I only really actively liked two of the characters (Locke and Sayid). Watching the show started feeling like a chore.

Exactly. It's really wearing on me not only that the plotlines just sort of trail off, but that they're usually focusing on a lame plotline while somewhere in the background, a really good story is going on. I liked the characters and the situation in theory, but I always get the impression that I could do a hell of a lot better with the show than the writers do.

Plus, Veronica's ruined me. RUINED ME, I TELL YOU. :)

Obvious solution: tape Lost, and we'll all tell you if it sucks tonight or not.

Given Walt's been trying to steal Locke's Creepy Hat, it could be bitchin'. Or it could be Jack's Daddy Issues or Kate the Homewrecker With A Heart Of Gold. We'll have to see. :>

Dude. It was:

Walt Being Kind to Shannon while Sawyer and Jack Had a Moment and somethinghappenedwithKatebutdoIcare?no! and Jin and Sun Made Me Cry and Rousseau and Locke Had Crazy Named-After-Philosophers-Chemistry and Hurley's The Man and Charlie Was Cute!

DUDE!

You know what? I'm feeling the same way. I mean, I'll continue watching the show out of a sick sense of duty (plus the fact that I'll stare at Matthew Fox given any opportunity), but I'm just not as into it as I used to be. Not since "Numbers".

And it's totally true that VERONICA OWNS ALL :P

To be honest, you know what I'd rather do tonight than watch Lost? I'd rather write VM fic. Something eventually hot and steamy with Veronica and Logan. Mmm-hmm. (And I totally feel you about the sick sense of duty. I'll watch my tape, sure. Just not tonight. Maybe not even before the weekend, at this rate.)

OH. MY. GOD.

They launch the boat. We find out what the hell the Black Rock is. We find out an eensy bit more about the Critter when it returns. Rousseau returns and tells us more about her first experiences on Craphole Island. We find out Sawyer's real name AND he tells Jack about Jack!Daddy's drunken confession! SUN & JIN MAKE UP!!

The writers are actually tying up flailing plotlines! WHEE!!!

Yeah, I was impressed with what they did with it -- and that they were doing multi-character flashbacks rather than focusing on just one person or couple's backstory.

But since the week I started watching House I lost the Lost lurve. Now it's Tuesday night I'm all excited for and Wednesday that I go, "Oh, another ep tonight. Oh well."

It actually was pretty good tonight. I recapped (http://www.livejournal.com/users/foresthouse/206446.html) it if you missed it.
