Pennsylvania's testing a dot system on the highways so that drivers will space their cars correctly in the hopes of reducing crashes.

And the great thing is, to assist with PennDOT's ridiculously idiotic hey-flip-a-coin-to-see-whether-or-not-we-patch-up-this-great-big-canyon-in-the-road system of highway construction, the dots will also keep you a safe enough distance behind drivers so that when the car ahead of you careens into a pothole in a move reminiscent of the car that drove off the San Francisco bridge during the '89 quake, you have sufficient time to put on your brakes and avoid going in after it, thereby saving yourself a scramble out the driver's side window and the use of a perfectly good parachute.

That's another thing that amused me about that story, too. I didn't even know we had rules other than, "You do not get points for hitting PennDOT workers with your car, so stop that!"

Not to mention the rednecks who aren't going to know what the hell the dots are for. "Look, Mama! God's playing checkers with his Matchbox cars!"

Sheesh. Pennsylvania rednecks. Gotta love 'em.

*cackles hysterically*

You mean there's more? You must be joking.

Sheesh. Pennsylvania rednecks. Gotta love 'em.

Ah yes. Scarily enough, I think I'll miss them when I migrate to Massachusetts.

I personally have always loved that road sign (which I quite honestly haven't had the opportunity to see in other states, so I've always associated it with PA) that they put up in construction areas that says, "My Mommy (or Daddy) Works Here" with the S drawn backward like a little kid would write it.

I never could figure out if it was supposed to stop you from driving recklessly or enrolling your kid in a crappy Pennsylvania school.
