So I just got back from seeing March of the Penguins, and in an effort to bring forth a mature, articulate response, I find myself describing my reaction to the movie with a famous quote from the esteemed orator and statesman Abraham Lincoln, which says:

"OMGWTF A BIG FUCKING PILE OF FLUFFY GRAY BABY PENGUINS!!1!1!"
*SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
*flails*
*keels over dead from cute*

That, by the way, is a direct quote. Go on, whip out Bartlett's. I'll wait.

Also, a note to the teenager sitting behind me ... please to not be reading aloud the "Silence is Golden" title card before the movie. It gives the rest of the audience free rein to beat you with sticks after the movie.

... on second thought, go ahead. Read away, loudmouth. Also, keep kicking the back of my seat, because there's some fine print on the back of my ticket that seems to be describing a game of Civil War Field Hospital, but with less liquor.

In other news, I bought two cheap paperbacks at the pharmacy that appear to be about superheroes in love. YAAAY! Michael Caine and Gene Hackman in the same movie! This is my thesis! *end PCU moment*

Well, I'm off to try like hell and fail miserably at being able to write more on Dead Men In Dark Suits. *sigh*

By Julie Kenner? If so, they are like crack. Crack!

By Roget's, you mean Bartlett's? Unless you want synonyms for cute.

I totally heard Abe Lincoln say that, though.

Consider yourself meta-ed.

(Can't wait to see it! Want to hug them as much as possible! *dies*)

HEE. Thanks. *cuddles you* (Psst. If the bit about whipping out Roget's is included in that, it's supposed to be Bartlett's. The Cute broke my brain. ;))

We just saw it as well, and I can't believe that no one was selling baby penguin plushies just outside of the theater. They would have made a killing... I know we would have bought one.

I have no purpose for this comment aside from the userpic. *points* (yes, I have several penguin userpics now.)

Also, a quote from William Shakespeare, which obviously predates yours:

"OMGWTFeth hark! yon big fucking pile of fluffy gray baby penguins doth slay me! Forsooth!"

So really, I think Abraham Lincoln was just quoting Shakespeare, albeit badly.

My MIL and I took the kids to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which had a trailer for March of the Penguins on IMAX.

Ginormous bundles of fluffy baby penguins on a screen that has its own zip code.

This is the stuff that makes life worthwhile.

Yay! Something I can take my daughter to and not have my brain cells committing suicide from boredom!

And I adore penguins. I like the little baby one in the commercial that falls on its chin then gets up and continues on, looking around warily... 'Did anybody see that? Okay, then, I'm still cool.'

Cute, but beware the sad. There is sad. Also happy and long lines of marching penguins, which is very much of the cute.

So, what were the books, and are they any good?

Yes, we need titles!

And we aren't getting the movie in my town. My city is stupid.:(
