I was just sort of slacking off, working on story notes and getting in the mood to watch Deep Impact for [livejournal.com profile] plan_9_from_lj, and for some ungodly reason I had the urge to go look up one of my favorite snacks that I used to eat all the time, Pop Nots. Mmm ... WAAAAAANT. I may go on the hunt for the butter-flavored kind tomorrow, because now that they're stuck in my head again, butter-flavored Pop Nots must be procured posthaste. *stomach growls*

Went with [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 and [livejournal.com profile] lechatbleu to go see Sky High again today. Damn, I need to write fic for that. (I didn't even notice until the other day that there's already fic up on [livejournal.com profile] skyhighfic. Admittedly, it's not all good fic, but it's all bad, either.) And I need it on DVD, like, yesterday. Because I'm obsessed, see. :) (Also picked up How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire, which I thought would turn out to be cheesy from the blurb on the back and ended up being really great, and 1634: The Galileo Affair, which I have a pretty good idea that I'm going to regret reading but I've stuck with the series so far and liked it, so I might as well keep going. :))

And now, I shall get myself some junk food and another Smirnoff and settle in to mock Deep Impact, which will be harder to mock than Armageddon would be, but what the hell?

Deep Impact has the advantage of Tea Leoni, which means you can make X-Files jokes. :D

And Elijah Wood, which means I can make LOTR jokes. Also, Morgan Freeman's the President. How friggin' awesome is that? ;)

Oh, fine. Now I want to read 'How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire'. Like I needed more books on my todo list.

I don't suppose you'd be interested in selling your copy, to at least save me from the horror of buying it new?

You read The Vampire & The Dentist already?? :)

I'm impressed.

I just finished watching the first episode of Firefly - I've had a thing for Nathan Fillion since he was on One Life to Live a long, long time ago :)

Oh, yeah. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. It was actually less cheesy than I thought it'd be, although it was still pretty funny. The writing's excellent, though, and you so have to read it. :)

Oh, yes, Nathan Fillion is awesome. And Mal's a great character, to boot. (Although I have a thing for Jayne, but let's not even get into that. ;))

Jayne is hot... and he's a classic bad boy... what's not to love? :)

Okay... so we'll trade... next time we hang out... I'll bring Haunted for you to read and you can bring me that one.

Finished watching the first disc... good stuff... Kaylee is adorable :)

Yeah, our house will be buying it on DVD, too. My daughter has a huge crush on Warren Peace. I predict many viewings.

(Of course, I enjoyed it, too. Kurt Russell was adorable, and teen angst aside, it was a hoot.)

How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire was good?! Damn, I'm gonna have to read that one! My co-workers and I at Borders spent several minutes in a state of amazed, hysterical disbelief at the mere existence of that book's back cover. O_o

*snerk* We kept calling it The Vampire and The Dentist. Because, really. (The best unspoken part of that back-cover blurb? He loses the fang after it gets stuck in the neck of a plastic sex toy.)

Honestly, though, for a goofy set-up like that, it was really well-written. The hero was very sexy (although a wee bit hard on himself, but he had a good reason), the heroine was nice and snarky, and the hero's big band of vampire followers were all awesome.

*snort* That's fantastic. All right, I really do have to read this book.

Have you read the Anita Blake or Sookie Stackhouse series? How does this compare? ^_^

The Galileo Affair was more of the same for that series, which is to say completely out there and boggling, but yet one will keep reading it and reading it...

(I had no idea you read those!...)

Honestly. I like the characters, and I can't even explain why because so many of them can be such redneck stereotypes sometimes or spout off the occasional line of painful dialogue. I like the plot, but it's so convenient sometimes, the info they've got on hand. And the way they data-dump historical info drives me nuts, even though the historical stuff is a big reason I read them.

And yet I just keep reading. *is probably just as boggled as you are*

After I got the one with the afterword explaining how much of the Grantville-verse is a collaborative effort specifically to avoid the bit where the person creating the AU puts in lots of effort in the areas they like and not enough in others, and how they were actually publishing fic and adding some of the characters to the stories the main author was writing, I forgave myself for continuing to read the series. But I really need Ring of Fire to hit paperback so I can buy it, since it has some background I didn't have on characters in 1634.

I had to go look it up... My local library system has 10 copies of How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire, and 3 of them were on hold! (OK, 4, but that fourth one is your fault. I had to do it...)
