A few hours ago, I was struck with the memory that a while back I signed up to rec Terminator fic on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van one of these years. (And considering how many people are ahead of me to rec small fandoms, a few years is probably how long it'll take me to do the overview. Or at the very least, the math involved with doing the timeline for a Terminator overview. Perhaps I should just dump a bunch of old calenders into a shredder and drink a glass of Smirnoff over the remnants while hoping for the best.)

In any event, I've been looking for fic and ... oy. There's enough decent fics out there to make recs for one month and ... well, that's about it. *pokes Terminator fandom, what few of us there are* Come on, people. I'm up to three Terminator fics and counting in the list of fics I've written, for crying out loud. Granted, two of them are crossovers with the primary purpose of getting Sarah laid. But damn it, I like getting Sarah laid (hell, I just like Sarah Connor), and there are way too many characters in other fandoms whom she could hook up with in an attempt to pick up information to teach John so he'll be this great military leader. Yet another fanfic writing challenge -- throw Sarah together with a character from another fandom so that she could learn cool, sneaky military stuff from them.

Can you tell it's three in the morning and I'm still not tired yet?

... she types, right before she yawns loudly.

EDIT: Oh, man, I need to post for September on [livejournal.com profile] plan_9_from_lj. Then again, I've been thinking of leaving it with open posting of recaps for the month just as a trial, and maybe making it permanent just as long as nobody abuses the privilege.

I am currently freaking out over my own stint as a small fandoms recc'er. WHY WHY WHY did I volunteer to rec for a fandom with thirteen years of canon and approximately seventy main characters? Aie.

Look at the bright side -- you didn't toss in your name for a time-travel fandom with some spectacular date screw-ups and a third movie the fans either love or ENTIRELY DISAVOW FUCK JONATHAN MOSTOW RAAAAAAAGE.

Not to mention the fact that there is no Terminator fic comm on LJ, the Yahoo lists are dead, and the Pit of Voles is ... well, the Pit of Voles.

*sigh* Glutton for punishment, that's me.

There is time-travel, though! Like the time the Earth rotated in reverse and so everybody de-aged about ten years... or... oooh, the team from the year 3000! And then there's the movie that exists *outside of canon* for some inexplicable reason.

*prods [livejournal.com profile] plan_9_from_lj gently* I doubt anyone will abuse anything. Heck, I doubt half of them remember that it's there. *prods it again* And I have August's review on my hard drive at work and have kept forgetting to post it. *groans* Better do that tonight.

Y'know what you made me realize I want to see? Post-Judgment Day--not necessarily the movie so much as the event--crossovers, particularly with those sf/f series where there would be significant impact on their universe. After all, the immortals from Highlander will survive, and then you've got questions about what this whole thing would do to the vampires and demons from Buffy, and wow, it just occurred to me that John Connor/nearly any member of the Buffy/Angel cast is just begging to happen. (Not to mention being one of the few groups where the story of his conception isn't going to be that, "o...kay...." He would be all, "I sent my father back in time where he and my mother hooked up and conceived me before he was actually born," and Dawn would go, "I was made by monks!" and everyone would get along great.)

There needs to be more Terminator fic, -- and crossovers in particular -- period, but yes, definitely a few Buffy/Angel stories would be in order.
