apocalypsosSo today was yet another phone call to the female parental unit, who informed me that she and the other parental unit finally got a chance to check out the apartment. According to her, it's not very modern, and it's not the best apartment in the world, but it's certainly not the worst, AND it's better than the place she and my dad had when they were first married.
Then she proceeded to tell me that my aunt is contributing a kitchen table and chairs and my pervy cousin is contributing a vacuum, etc. Which is, you know, how my family is. Somebody getting a new place is an excuse to buy new stuff and dump your old stuff on them. Sideways charity ... works for me. :) So now I'll have two butterfly chairs, a day bed (which will be my couch ... *shrugs*), a twin bed, a kitchen table and chairs, and a couple of bureaus. So considering it's all free, it's a pretty decent haul.
The downside is that I've got to reopen the boxes I've already packed so that I can make a list for my mom of stuff I've already bought. You know what I really need to get? The biggest one of those pillows that are everywhere now -- you know, the stretchy ones with the tiny squishy balls in them -- that I can find. I love those. :)
Also, I found out that the Night of the Living Dead poster I won off eBay got eaten by the post office. Bad post office! But then again, the company that sold it to me offered to replace it with two other posters. I changed my mind. Good post office! Eat more of my mail! Those creditor bills taste just like chocolate!
