X-Men 3 trailer description! *bounces around the room like a Tigger on crack* See, I have my problems with the production so far, but at the same time, I desperately need to see that trailer. Oh, yes. Know why? For this ...
Pyro: "Bobby, didn’t your mother ever tell you not to play with fire?" (Igniting fire in his hand that lights the cave)
Iceman: "No, John, my mother told YOU never to play with fire." (Hovers an ice ball in his hand)
Oh, my God, am I seeing what I think I'm seeing? Did they give my baby more of a backbone? And snappier dialogue? And put him and Pyro in a cave together to fight it out?!
*flails like mad while loving on Bobby like WHOA and falls to the floor completely and totally dizzy*
Dear God ... I don't ask for much, but please, please, pleeeeeeeease make this movie not suck.

And you're excited about this dialogue? Fantastic Four got crapped on for "Now, let's not fight..." "No, let's" and this is roughly a billion times clunkier.
This description of the trailer looks really really fake to me, because it's designed around making geeks fangasm instead of actually promoting the movie to the mainstream.

Date: 2005-10-03 07:05 pm (UTC)Are you KIDDING me!?! "No, let's" is just stupid. This one actually makes sense with the characters and their history in the movies so far. Plus, it shows that two best friends are seriosuly fighting. It's not just bad guy vs. good guy. That's a pretty significant insight into the plot. In Fantastic Four, we know Dr. Doom is bad and she's good. That's totally different.

Date: 2005-10-03 08:14 pm (UTC)Uh, right. All I get from the scene is that Pyro's mutant power involves fire, and Iceman's mutant power involves ice. That's real deep insight into their conflict.
Yeah, the two characters have an interesting history, but I only know that because I watched the last movie, not because the dialogue here reveals so much about them. And "didn't your mother tell you not to play with fire" is a really cliched line for a guy weilding fire to use. I feel like I'm reading the script to The Year Without A Santa Claus, and Iceman is about to say "You always were a little...hot headed, John!"

And if it isn't real ... well, hell, I wouldn't be surprised, but it makes me happy, so I'll live in denial for a little while longer. ;)
