Oct. 12th, 2005 11:08 pmYay! The Christmas wish list meme is going around for this year! I love the wish list meme. It's fun reading everybody else's lists. (And maybe getting something done for someone else. :))
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My list
1. Donate to charity. Anything, really. Do something nice for somebody who's not me. :)
2. Crack crossover fic. I want whacked-out crossovers in fandoms that never get crossovers. Or, hell, any fic at all, for that matter. Heck, just randomly pick two fandoms out of a hat and go for it. I'm not picky.
3. Clothes, size 6/7 in pants and medium in tops. I could use new sneakers, too, size 7. (That is so stuff I need to pick up when I can actually start spending money again. *sigh*)
4. Books. I have so few left. My bookshelf is so sad and lonely.
5. Anything from my Amazon wishlist.
6. A book deal. (What? Wishlist. Helloooo.) (And some cover art! And a listing in the Library of Congress! And that extra blank page that I always end up ripping out and using when I forget a notepad!)
7. Music. Anything and everything is cool. I've got room for another eight thousand songs on my Zen (supposedly) and it'd be awesome to fill it. ;)
8. DVDs. God, of anything, really. Again, not picky, and I always appreciate something new.
9. A twin mattress. It'd be nice to actually get to sleep in my bedroom for a change instead of sleeping in the living room on the day bed.
10. A brand new car. I mean, like a totally brand new car for the first time EVER. Now, THAT's the wish part of the list.
And my email is in my userinfo, so ... yeah. :)
Okay, now you guys go, because reading everybody's else lists and hopefully getting other people stuff from their lists is the best part.
