Oct. 25th, 2005 04:24 pmI'm watching Ultimate Super Vixens, which is goddamn killing me, and not in a good way. The description on the TV guide says it's for superheroines, but right now, Madonna's version of Breathless Mahoney just made #10. *headshake*
#9 is Princess Leia, though, which kind of makes up for it.
I was hoping Sarah would make the list (don't I always?), but Halle Berry as Storm was somewhere around #15, so I don't exactly have the highest expectations anymore.
So here's a good question -- who are your favorite butt-kicking chicks? God knows we can probably come up with a much better list. ;)
EDIT: Ripley was #6? Really? Well, there's three more and I haven't seen Sarah yet, so I'm actually getting more optimistic. :) (She'd better be in the top three, damn it. #4 is Lara Croft, for crying out loud.)
OTHER EDIT: Catwoman was #1. Okay, I can get behind that. Ignoring the moronic movie, Catwoman is awesome enough to make my "Where the hell was Sarah Connor?!" reaction lessen. (She had better have at least been earlier on the list, then, because Felicity fucking Shagwell made the list somewhere around #12, and I'm sorry, but ... the fuck?!)
ANNOYED EDIT: Okay, I see why Sarah didn't make the list. Because you had to kick ass AND be some man's fantasy doing it. *eye roll*

Good question.

*blink*
WHAT THE FRICK?
Illyria, Beatrix Kiddo (heck, ALL of Bill's Ladies, but especially O-Ren), Eowyn, River, Zoe, and if she gets a name, she gets a mention, so Vera. ;)

Date: 2005-10-25 08:53 pm (UTC)One of the best ass-kicking speeches ever. (Though Delenn's, "He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else," ranks pretty high, too.)

Date: 2005-10-25 08:58 pm (UTC)Felicity Shagwell is just stupid. She was lamer than any Bond Girl, and that's a list that includes Tanya Roberts and Denise Richards. They'd better have had at least one Michelle Yeoh role in the top five.
Oh, and Wonder Woman has to be in there. On a geekier level, Fire and Psylocke. I seem to have a fondness for supermodel-secret agent types with weird-coloured hair.

Date: 2005-10-25 09:09 pm (UTC)Looking at what I can see of the list, we're talking about characters who while they may be heroes/villains/desperately cool in their own right are largely the "Who's Who" of adolescent male fantasies over the past couple of decades.
If they'd gone with an "Ultimate Heroines" instead of "Ultimate Vixens" we might have a case. (and a more interesting show in my opinion).
Did you see Austin freaking Powers is on the Ultimate Heroes list however? Major crack smoking going on here.

Date: 2005-10-25 09:11 pm (UTC)Yes, but they did follow it up with the Tick, which was a nice surprise. :)
Then again, Daredevil is coming up?! I mean, the comic version, maybe, but the movie version? *mind boggles*

Re: A thought...
Date: 2005-10-25 11:04 pm (UTC)Sex isn't the endgame for Sarah. And being a vixen requires too much game playing...also not her thing.
Now personally? The character fascinates the heck out of me on all levels -- always has.
But I see a lot of people that just don't know what to do with her.

Also, leaving comics land, Veronica Mars. Though she won't so much beat you up as make you wish she had. :)

Date: 2005-10-26 06:18 pm (UTC)How about Leela from Doctor Who? For a finale she took down the timelords, the most advanced humanoids in the universe, with nothing more than a sheath knife.
And thinking of characters who are a touch savage or feral, how about Victoria Pratt's character in Mutant X? Pretty much anything played by Victoria Pratt is worthy of getting on the list
