I've been watching a Titanic special about the building of the ship and heckling the screen.

And when I say I've been heckling, it's not that I've been heckling the documentary, it's that I've been calling Ismay a smug asshole and booing the executives who keep whining they only need sixteen lifeboats.

EDIT: Ian McKellen posted a list of the X3 cast. I am such a fangirl, if only because my immediate reaction was, "Kelsey Grammer and Shawn Ashmore are right next to one another! Hank and Bobby together! *squeal*"

They needed a certain fixed number of lifeboats to meet British naval safety regulations. Nevermind the fact that the number of lifeboats was far less than the number of passengers, they were entirely in compliance with the law at the time.

But you already knew that.

What's the name of the special? I think I'd like to see it myself.

Yup, already knew that. I think I remember yelping about that at one of the executives at one point. ;)

I think it was called "Birth of a Dream" or "Birth of a Legend".

Well, she's supposed to be playing Kavita Rao, although I guess at one point she told EW that she was playing Cecelia Reyes and everybody had a fit because she's not Puerto Rican. Then again, considering that knowing her character kind of gives you a pretty good idea what might happen in the movie, I'm not surprised she lied about it.

Okay, how smugly nerdy is this? My mother is a lifelong friend of the niece of the stewardess who survived the Titanic- Violet Something-. Anyhoo, I got to meet this niece once and ask her about her aunt. She gave me a copy of the aunt's memoirs, entitled "Titanic Survivor". As it turns out, the aunt was also on the Olyumpic when it collided with another ship, and ALSO survived the sinking of the Britannic. You've probably heard of her. Personally, I think the memoirs should have been called "A Menace To Shipping".
