Sep. 19th, 2003 03:37 pmJust out of curiosity, does anybody know of a website that explains bone marrow transplants in a really understandable way? Basically, something easy enough for an idiot who has a hard time with medical terminology -- *user whistles and tries to pretend this is absolutely not her* -- to understand.
It's for research purposes for a story, but I basically just need enough information to know the basics, since it's only a minor plot point to spur the story along.
If there is a doctor in the house, would you be able to tell when testing a sibling for a bone marrow transplant whether or not he/she was a blood relation? Like say, if a child had been raised not knowing he/she was adopted, and a sibling needed a transplant, and he/she got tested, would they be able to tell that they weren't from the same gene pool or just that they weren't a match?
