Writing memes! Whee!
Dec. 13th, 2005 05:09 pmOkay, that's bad. I won't be putting that song in anybody else's head. Promise. ;)
Anyway, let's see how many fics I've written this year. *rubs hands together*
Supernatural
Gremlins
They Say It's Wonderful
X-Men Movieverse
Something Biblical
Terminator
Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and John Connor
A Cold Day In a Cruel World
Commander-In-Chief
Likes and Dislikes
That Which Doesn't Kill Us
Firefly/Terminator
Our Passenger
Veronica Mars
Catch a Falling Star
Leaving Me Here On My Own
Making Friends
The 4400
Italian Food and Video Games
Lost
Red Shirts and Blue Blankets
A Wrinkle In Time
Five Things That Probably Didn't Happen to Hugo Reyes
The Shawshank Redemption
I Seek A Silent Fortress
Desperate Housewives
Muffins and Misdemeanors
And, of course, the
yuletide fic that dare not speak its name. So a grand total of nineteen, if I don't manage to squeeze out one or two more in the next two weeks. ;)
And now onto the other questions ...
My favorite story of this year: Oh, God, I have to pick one? Aw, man. Okay, out of all of those ... Something Biblical. What? Was I not supposed to pick the post-apocalyptic one? Because honestly, that's my forte, and getting to play with the movieverse characters like that was tons of fun. And YAY! I got to kill Wolverine and make it stick! *snerk*
My best story this year: All right, maybe I like it because it's still fresh in my mind, but They Say It's Wonderful turned how waaaaay better than I thought it would. I just wanted to get the damn idea out of my head, because the demon was standing right over Sam and with all the talk of whether it came for him and he was the reason for it coming back and whatnot, it was right there in my head and wouldn't leave.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Red Shirts and Blue Blankets, I think, mostly because I love Shannon to pieces just for being exactly the bitchy, selfish person she could be, and that was just me putting it out there in fic form. So, you know ... yeah. :)
Most fun story: A tie between Making Friends and Gremlins. Dude, if I could make every male character in all of my favorite fandoms an adorable five-year-old, you know I would.
Most sexy story: Our Passenger. I mean, Jayne and Sarah. I don't even have to write the sex for it to be sexy. It's just there, sitting next to you, reading over your shoulder, with one hand holding a semi-automatic weapon and one hand groping you in your bathing suit area. *snickers*
Story with the single sexiest moment: Well, hell, I don't know. I personally think Rogue telling Bobby she loves him right before she orders him to take off his pants in Something Biblical is pretty sexy, but then I think that might just be me. ;)
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Uh, to be honest, I think there are some parts of Something Biblical that fit that one, too.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Probably Red Shirts and Blue Blankets, mostly because writing Shannon and trying not to focus on her more selfish aspects really do give you a better understanding of where she's coming from.
Hardest story to write: Hmm ... Something Biblical for length, I Seek A Silent Fortress for trying to get Red's voice juuuuuuuust right, and They Say It's Wonderful just because I was new to the fandom and was really, really nervous to write. (And also my
yuletide fic. Fucker nearly tore me apart with indecision, man.)
Biggest Disappointment: Commander-In-Chief could have been better, I suppose.
Biggest Surprise: Five Things That Probably Didn't Happen to Hugo Reyes and Making Friends. Dude, those got so much more of a response than I thought they would. I was thrilled. :)
Most Unintentionally Telling Story: I swear, I keep going back to Red Shirts and Blue Blankets, but it took writing Shannon to humanize her. And it took writing her to see that while she's not as bad as everybody makes her out to be, she's still pretty bad, and even so, I still have a lot in common with her. I mean, we all have our selfish moments. Plus, in the story she did the exact same thing I do when I get upset or nervous or angry -- I just retreat into myself and don't want anybody near me. With me, it's more a matter of getting away from people before I ruin their good times, but with her, it's more defensive. I don't know ... I guess I just got Shannon in a different way than everybody else did. Not better, not worse, just different. *shrugs*
