Dec. 23rd, 2005 02:13 pmLast night at work, I discovered two things. First off, I found out that the guy who trained me is gay. Damn it! I thought my gaydar was broken, but that clinches it. *pokes it with a sharp stick* (I think I've mentioned that the two guys I had the biggest crushes on in high school turned out to be gay. Dude, I've had to work hard for my gaydar.)
Secondly, no more arguing points of TV shows at work, especially Lost. One of the guys I work with and I spent a good half-hour arguing because he said that now that the Lostaways have guns, they should just storm into the jungle after the Others to get Walt, to which I pointed out that going into the jungle where the monster, the polar bears, and the Others are when they haven't really explored the jungle yet, they have no idea who the Others are, where they live, what they know, and what they're capable of, when the Others have already proven that they know the island better and might be physically stronger to an alarming capacity, might be galactically MORONIC. His only argument was that "If it were MY son ..." to which I usually immediately responded, "You'd get the both of you killed, if not a lot of the other Lostaways, if not ALL of the Lostaways."
And then he ripped on Sayid, Sawyer, and Shannon and talked about how much he loved Kate. I probably shouldn't talk to him about Lost anymore, and yet now I've made the mistake of telling him that I read websites online that give clues and theories and stuff for the show and he keeps asking me about them. Dude, go look yourself. Sheesh.
I also spent a good part of the night thinking there should be a post-apocalyptic ficathon. Argh. If I knew how to organize a ficathon that wasn't a completely freakin' free-for-all like
ithurtsmybrain has turned into, I'd probably do it, too.
EDIT: Also, tonight's the high school reunion I'm not going to. I mentioned it at the table I sit at during lunch and said I used to be dorky and introverted, and no one believed me. Heh. :)
OTHER EDIT: Tonight at work, we're supposed to get our Christmas gifts from the company, which are supposed to be a bunch of CDs and a DVD. To give you some idea of the quality of CDs I'm expecting, what I could really use for Christmas is a Plinko board. As for the DVD, it's supposed to be either The Polar Express or Mr. and Mrs. Smith. If it's the latter, I'll be grateful. If it's the former ... woohoo! Another round of Plinko for me!

Date: 2005-12-24 12:26 am (UTC)Why don't you limit it to one fandom, and ask the participants to come up with characters, prompts and/or post-apocalyptic or dystopian scenarios that they want someone to write?
Oh. Would you happen to know when
