Also, my parents came over to bring me an old dresser, and my mother immediately knelt beside Emmett's cage and said, "Hi, sweetie! It's Grandma!" I really don't want to know what that says about my love life, but it can't be good.

My mother does that too, with my cat. Lately, she's taken to referring to the oldest daughter on Medium as her grandchild because the character and I share certain traits. It would be nice if I could think she's just nuts, but I really think she's given up on hinting for grandkids and is taking the sledgehammer approach.

My mom constantly refers to herself as grandma when addressing my cat. However, I think it's less creepy since my cat was an orphaned kitten that I bottle fed, played mommy with, etc.
