apocalypsos: (boo praise)

Well, I spoiled myself so that I already knew Emmett was going to go, and while I do love him in all his stylish stoicism, I'm sure I'll be happy not to hear the phrase "I'm used to working in menswear" ever again.

And I'm so happy that everyone was pretty well-behaved this episode. Well, Andrae was melodramatic, but then again, Andrae's breathing is melodramatic, so he can't help that.

In any event, by designer:

Zulema -- I just ... I don't get it. I mean, I didn't like it. For all of the crap the judges were giving Emmett's costume, Zulema's had so much of that sheer nylon stuff on it. I cannot possibly be the only one who hated that costume. I mean, I didn't like Emmett's, but I HATED Zulema's.

Emmett -- "Was it the shirt?" Awwww. Poor sweetheart. I mean, yeah, he was kind of a one-trick pony, and yeah, he wouldn't shut it about the whole menswear background, but he was a doll.

Santino -- See, this is what gets me about Santino, because when he's an asshole, he's an ENORMOUS asshole, but when he's not, he has these moments of awesomeness that are kind of endearing. I mean, seriously, his note-perfect Tim Gunn impression alone makes it hard for me to hate him all the time. (And that promo for next week that makes it look like he gets caught by Tim doing it? SWEET! Although I really do think that if Tim heard it, he would love it to death.) But he does need to hear the stuff about not going overboard, and while I think that what Heidi said to him on the runway sunk in at least a little bit (it should, considering that he's ended up on the wrong side of the runway about as many times as Marla did at this point), I really wish he would have heard what the judges had said about him when he wasn't around. Obviously, Heidi's sick of his shit, Michael's not having it, and Nina doesn't need to be there for her disapproval of his sorry ass to be known. And the thing is, I do like his designs, once you shed all the fripperies. I mean, you know those movies where a woman is forced to wear some overdone monstrosity with too much lace and bows and shit -- usually a wedding dress -- and they finally get frustrated and rip it all off, and underneath is a gorgeous outfit? That's what Santino's designs remind me of.

Daniel V. -- Still a sweetheart. Still a hottie. Still designing beautiful clothes (although as someone else on ye olde friends list said, I think that was really more of a couples figure skating outfit).

Andrae -- Oh, my lovable little drama queen. He really does strike me as the kind of guy who absolutely thrives when there's something he can flail about. I did like his costume, though, although I don't see Sasha Cohen wearing it, but I did think it was lovely.

Chloe -- Sweetie, I love you to pieces, and all of your stuff is beautifully put together, and I like the color, too, but if you don't step away from the turquoise RIGHT NOW, we're going to have to have some words. And I say all that even though I loved her costume and in spite of the fact that what I really want to complain about is that it's entirely possible Chloe weighs more than her model, and that's just not right.

Kara -- Meh on the costume. As for her, a haircut, some makeup, and one of the other designers to take aside and explain which clothes accentuate good body parts and which ones hide good body parts and accentuate your faults. It's all I ask.

Nick -- My favorite costume. Seriously, why was that not chosen? It was beautiful, it was elegant, it wasn't Zulema's. The hell?! Aside from that, his giddy schoolgirl crush on Sasha Cohen was the cutest thing ever.

At this point, I want the final three to be Nick, Chloe, and Daniel so badly I can almost taste it. I would love to see what all three could do with some start-up capital and their own line.

Next week: JAY! *pounces and cuddles* I've missed you so, my catty darling.

As soon as I started writing my thoughts on PR, George Michael's "Freedom" came on my Zen. Now, that's just too freaking perfect. :)

And now, your moment of Zen ...

I want to hit Santino in the face. He has talent, but not enough talent to match that ego.

Zulema's outfit was really pretty, IMO, except for the color. Unless you have darker skin, skin-tight white doesn't stand out at all, especially on TV. Even Zulema said the model looked naked - when was that a good idea?

If any good comes out of this season, it will be that a.) Santino's ego takes a major beating and b.) maybe he can learn not to keep adding so much of that frilly extra crap he keeps putting on everything, regardless of people telling him to stop.

If the final three turn out to be Chloe, Daniel, and Nick, I will shriek loud enough to break windows. Of course, then we get to the "whoever wins, two excellent people lose" stage, and I will be sad.

If Zulema makes it to the final three, however, I formally request we change her name to "Zulema Pepper" and throw things at her, because - seriously, maybe we saw too much tootie on Emmett's design (tootie! That's really never getting old), but with Zulema's, if you don't fit it exactly right, you're going to see boobs on national TV.

I thought Zulema's had potentional, but it needed the swirly sequins to cover more. Too much boob was showing, I didn't like that we could see the belly button and I didn't like the way it turned into the skirt. I wanted a swirly transition or something.

I'm kinda anxious to see next week's model thing. If Nick, Chloe and Daniel all make it to the finals I shall be super happy.

For all you can say about Zulema's design, the attention to detail was quite excellent and the design was probably the most ambitious of the lot. I admit that it needed more coverage, but that outfit took some serious skill to make. I didn't love it, but I wasn't really bowled over by anything this week.

Nick's design was pretty, but I think the big problem with it was the color because, man, she'd look naked wearing that if you saw her from a distance. I'd love it if he did it in a different and darker color.

That said- my general thoughts on the ep were overridden by the "omgomgomgomgJAY" factor of the preview for next week.

I didn't like Chloe's at all... but I may be the only one to think that. I thought it was hideous. Nick's was by far my favorite.
