Jan. 21st, 2006 12:44 amI updated IMDb with the goof from The Office about there not being a Hooters in the Scranton area. Well, that killed five minutes.
Here's another five minutes. Ten signs you're reading a fic by Troll Princess:
1. The characters may not behave as they might normally behave (although more often than not, they're on target), but by God, they're witty.
2. The world will end, or has ended, or is ending. By the time you get to the end of the story, there's about a fifty percent chance the planet will look like Frat Row after an after-finals blockwide kegger.
3. Someone you either loathe as a character or would probably loathe if you knew them in real life is the main character. They're still an asshole, but there's a slight chance you might make it out of the story understanding them a teensy bit better.
4. The main female character gets the chance to either mentally, physically, or verbally kick someone's ass.
5. Two male characters who've known each other since they were kids are featured as adorable little boys.
6. The sex, while present, doesn't go into the kind of detail you could use to teach human reproduction in a health class.
7. You find yourself wondering at any time if the writer is on the good crack.
8. All pairings are het pairings in which the characters are either totally fucked-up but have incredible chemistry or perfectly average and normal and still kinda cute, with the occasional canon slash pairing.
9. Two characters you never would have thought to put together in a million years are hooking up in it, and it kinda works.
10. Sarah Connor's fucking someone in it.
And now, for some fic recs ...
Something Practical, by
chaos_pockets (The Chronicles of Narnia, Susan) -- Susan and her relationship with Lucy. A lovely portrait of the two girls.
Ain't No Sin To Be Glad You're Alive, by
ignipes (Supernatural, Sam and Dean) -- A fabulous yet understated moment in time following the events of "Faith".
White Noise in Black Room Dust, by
stone_princess (Supernatural/Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sam/Dean/Faith) -- I just ... you saw that threesome, right? Because God knows those boys are just a great big pile of sex without Faith, so with her ... well, you're going to need a bunk to be in, is all I'm saying.
Panacea, by
saganamidreams (Doctor Who, Ten and Rose, but pushing Ten/Rose territory) -- How Rose shapes Ten and makes him the new man that he is. I love their relationship and how Ten sees Rose in this a lot.
It Must Be Tuesday, by
xphoenixrising (Firefly/Supernatural, Sam/River and Dean) -- Speaking of perfect pairings, Sam and River? YESYESYES. Because it shouldn't work and yet it does and the only thing that really doesn't is that whole five-hundred-years-apart thing.
xphoenixrising has been throwing the same pairing plotbunny at my head, too, and I swear to GOD I'm writing it if it kills me. Oh, and did I mention the apocalypse? (And bonus points from my Terminator-loving heart for that last bit. ;))
All Things Which Cease To Be, Begin Anew, by
keepaofthecheez (Veronica Mars, Veronica/Logan) -- I'm a sucker for Veronica-had-to-raise-Meg-and-Duncan's-daughter stories, and it's only been how many weeks now? Add that to Veronica-and-Logan-hook-back-up-again stories (always a good thing) and I love this story to squishy bits.
Little Pink Houses For You And Me, by
_cee (Supernatural, Sam/Dean) -- Dean remembers his first car, along with the secrets he and Sam keep. Ah, yumnmy, yummy Wincest. How I love thee. (I've found myself amazed lately that I used to loathe incest fic, but between Lost (well, kinda), Supernatural, and Arrested Development -- and if I could find George Michael/Maeby fic, I'd be on it in a heartbeat -- I've lost the aversion almost totally. :))
Focus, by
winterlive (Supernatural RPS, Jared/Jensen) -- Jensen is fascinated by this thing Jared does with his lips. It's just as awkward and confusing as a first time should be, plus it gets huge love from me for being the first SPN RPS I've seen where Jeffrey Dean Morgan makes an appearance. For someone who thinks John Winchester's just as hot as his sons and squealed at the top of her lungs when she saw him on a CSI rerun last night, let's just say I was thrilled.

Date: 2006-01-21 05:54 am (UTC)I would have so much sex with him. QB would, too, as a matter of fact. We both first fell in love with him on Weeds. Wasn't he also on Grey's Anatomy last week?

Date: 2006-01-21 06:10 am (UTC)I could never imagine in a million years how well the fic has been recieved. I'm totally awestruck. (That whole 500 years apart thing? Never happened *whistles*).
I'm so glad you liked it :)
I won't let it kill you *has paddles ready* Cause if it kills you, you won't get to write or read anymore Sam/River.

Date: 2006-01-21 01:05 pm (UTC)They could have drove to Binghamton to goto Hooters, btw. It would have been a long lunch, but hey, they DO work for Dunder-Mifflin.

Date: 2006-01-21 02:42 pm (UTC)Jeffrey Dean Morgan - I know that name. Wasn't he in The Burning Zone, which I worked my ass off to get on tape from the Sci-Fi Channel a long time ago? Let me check... yes, he was! Cool! I recognized a name!
Now I need coffee. *g*

Date: 2006-01-21 04:36 pm (UTC)Also? I watch Supernatural, but I've always been wary of reading the fanfic for it because I knew how prevalent the incest stuff was. Out of curiosity, is there any general fic for that show? Non-incest-y? LOL Yeah...I'm still squeamish about it. :/
Thanks again!
