That Mensa test that's been going around -- I got to 26 of them right before I started trying to look up answers I really should have known already. Not because I'm some sort of mega-genius or anything, but because I've done that test at least a dozen times in puzzle magazines since I was a kid -- maybe not that exact same test, but I did recognize nearly all of them -- not to mention I think I remember doing one in gifted classes when I was a kid. (For the record, I was missing 10, 26, 30, and 31.)

I've spent all day trying to put a dent in my list of fanfics I've got to write, right up until I stopped in mid-sentence and said, "You know, what I could really stand to write is some smut." So now I'm trying to get in the right frame of mind for writing porn. Urgh. I know there's sex music on this mp3 player somewhere.

EDIT: Some answers for that Mensa test in the comments, so avoid if you still want to do the test.

Oh man, this test is addictive. I haven't done anything like this before. So far I have 22, but I really don't see the other ones. Ugh.

Back to the puzzling :)

yeah, that 'mensa' test is either a hoax (most likely) or a blatant example of how knowledge of one's own culture is considered an intelligence marker for everyone. geah.

#10 was 5 toes on foot :)

Did some of those have something to do with measurements? I had a hard time with a couple and I'm wondering if I just wasnt' familiar with what they were referencing.

*headsmack* ARGH. Duh.

I don't think there were that many measurements on there, other than time. Which ones were you having trouble with?

Uh, #6, 7, 12, 17, 28. Hockey distracted me mightily.

Yeah some of those last few were difficult. I still don't know the answers.

I'm good with answers. I'm currently transcribing 16th century English parish records in Secretary hand. My brain can take no more punishment :)

Also, I remember doing these in gifted classes and stuff growing up too. All the time, in fact.

Damn. Okay, I never would have gotten that one.

Well I never would have gotten THAT. Nor 17. I should have gotten the others though. I can see why people would have issues with that test being culturally biased though. I remember doing one like it as a test for gifted once though, but it was more...general.

Honestly? I have no idea how I got it. It just sort of came to me.

That said: 14, 19, 20 and 33 are all driving me crazy.

arrgh! I knew most of 19, but I couldn't figure out the S.

however, there's no way I would have gotten 14.

31 is 6 balls to an over in cricket.

Because I remembered that these things ALWAYS had a cricket question that stumped us when I did them in school.

I did have to check on wikipedia for the right terminology though. An over?? *shakes head*

Yeah, I think the scoring is a bit off - I got to 28 before giving up and peeking at the answers. I couldn't get 20, 24, 26, 28 or 30.
