Jan. 24th, 2006 01:55 pmWell, I watched the "Donut Run" opening scene on UPN.com, and my world, it is upside-down. I distinctly remember thinking, "Holy crap, I like Dick!" and "Thank you, Duncan!" Seriously, I'm not a huge Duncan fan by any stretch of the imagination, but whether or not they were dating anymore, the mother of his child is dead and he can't even see the kid. (Which still sounds ridiculous to me, that the heir to billions and the baby's father wouldn't have access to that kid, but whatever. There'd better be a decent excuse for that one, other than that one time he, you know, ran away to Mexico with a very, very tiny part of his billions.) And yes, Kendall was in the apartment, and Veronica, I love you, but SHUT UP. Jesus.
Don't mind me, she is still one of my favorite characters on TV, but she's really getting on my last nerve with the self-centered stuff. Granted, last year, everything kind of WAS about her, but it hasn't been all that much since the beginning of the season.
For some insane reason, I watched about fifteen minutes of Awesomely Bad Fashion on VH-1 and figured out what bugs me about Mariah Carey anymore. You know what she reminds me of? If Elizabeth Berkeley's character in Showgirls decided she wanted to be a pop star, but first she needed to go to Subway because she was too skinny, she would be Mariah Carey.

So, I think V's allowed a little freak-out time.
However, I am so glad Veronica and Duncan are broken up!! LoVe forever!!!
And yeah, Dick was awesome! And hot! When did Dick become hawt?!?! :)

Date: 2006-01-24 07:56 pm (UTC)The Kendall thing ... I don't know. On one hand, yeah, if I were Veronica, the jealousy would flare up, too. On the other hand, my first thought when trying to think of a logical explanation that wasn't Duncan-sex was, "She has a key to the apartment because she was and still might occasionally sleep with my ex, she might be there for Logan, and considering Veronica's investigating led to Dick Sr. making a run for it, a little I-nailed-Duncan-wink-wink fun might be too good to resist."
And trust me, I so don't want to side with Duncan here, but I think a lot of my problems (although I definitely don't think they're out of character for any teenage girl in her situation, much less Veronica) stem from the, "I'm your girlfriend and I'm still here!" bit. Because a.) the daughter he only found out about a few weeks ago is here, too, and he can't see her, and b.) the mother of his child is dead, and say what you will about the state of their romantic relationship, but Meg was really a nice person (omitting the early-season bitchiness) and now had a lifetime connection to Duncan, who could very easily break up with Veronica (see ... well, that opening scene) anytime he feels like it.
The biggest problem is that they don't belong together at ALL. And it's not that they're bad people -- they're not, and I think if last year proved anything, it's that they can be good friends if they stop being all secretive with one another. They have these two personalities that just don't mesh at all, and they're horrible for one another in that way that you look back on twenty years after high school and wonder what the hell you were thinking. Veronica needs someone with more attitude and fire (and I have to admit my Logan preference, though only for Veronica) and Duncan needs someone more personable to bring out his better qualities.
Also, I still can't wrap my brain around "he slept with her when he thought she was his sister". Yeah, he was drugged, but SKEEVY.
*swoons* I heart Dick. My cuddly little asshole. :)

Date: 2006-01-24 08:09 pm (UTC)You're completely right -- Duncan and Veronica do not belong together. Maybe they did back in "The Lily Years" but not now. Veronica's changed way too much to still be with Duncan. I think they were both enamored of the idea of going back to each other, back to the way things were, back to when Duncan was a nice and sweet boyfriend, not the guy he is now. (Rage issues, meds, weirdness, etc.)
But, I am an abashed Logan/Veronica fan -- and have been ever since he rescued her in "Weapons of Class Destruction." *siigh swoon*
So, I'll quit arguing about 20 percent on who is right and wrong and just hope that Logan and Veronica get back together now! Go Tritons!

Date: 2006-01-24 08:23 pm (UTC)And amen on the Logan/Veronica. It always completely mystifies me how much I love the two of them together, because he's just as destructive as Duncan is, and yet, he's the right kind of destructive for Veronica. :)
