Nobody can say I don't wake up in the morning on a Saturday and get anything done, since I just started my first community, [livejournal.com profile] spellweavers. If you write original fantasy fiction and have been looking for a place to meet other fantasy writers ... well, there you go.

Okay, off to the showers with me.

EDIT: Oh, want to know why Anne Rice's novels blow? It's because she's a pompous ass. And apparently, an infallible one. *eye roll*

That explains much about Rice's writing style. Especially the desperate need for editing.

Exactly. You know, I usually don't beta my fanfic, because I'm just doing it for fun and if I make a mistake, I make a mistake.

But my original fic ... *sigh* ... I just don't understand how someone can have an attitude with their original published fiction of, "Well, I don't like getting bad feedback about my stuff because it really hurts my feelings, so I won't listen to my editors and I don't care if it makes me look like an arrogant, idiotic jerk when my story comes out."

EVERYONE needs an editor. No matter how well they write. It's obvious that one of Anne Rice's monsters have sucked her common sense as well as most of her brains out of her pointy little head. Poor thing -- bet it got heartburn something awful.

Little wonder why I haven't read anything of hers for years.

As an editor and a lover of words, that really offends me. EVERYONE could use a second set of eyes on their stuff. And I'm not just saying that so I can keep myself in business. There are things that you can completely miss because you're so close to the work that someone else who hasn't been living through those pages and hasn't been living in your head will pick up.

See if I'll ever pick up another Anne Rice book (save the Beauty series; I need my BDSM kick).

I haven't read Anne Rice the same since I first stumbled onto her website. This just furthers the annoyance.

The Fandom_Wank thread on that was hysterical.
