Catch a Falling Star, Veronica Mars, Logan/Veronica.

Yeah, I wrote another Everyday Superheroes story. SUE ME.

EDIT: Spotted on IMDb ...

Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have signed to star in a second Batman movie, but love interest Katie Holmes has been dropped. Movie bosses are thrilled with the response to Batman Begins - it took $46.9 million in its first weekend at the US box office - and have snapped up the film's stars for a sequel. Bale as Batman was the first to put pen to paper, followed by Caine as butler Alfred and Freeman as Bruce Wayne's business associate Lucius Fox. But Holmes won't reprise her role as district attorney Rachel Dawes - reportedly because Warner Bros is angry her engagement to Tom Cruise has stolen media attention away from the movie. A source tells Pagesix.Com, "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman." Adding of Holmes, "She won't be in the sequel... the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom."

*laughs and points like Nelson Muntz*

That's great!

I liked Katie Holmes in Wonder Boys, but she was boring and beyond pointless in Batman Begins. She was the only weak part of a fantastic movie.

:) Yeah, I saw this over at the DC boards yesterday. I can't help but think their reasons for ditching Holmes are a cover story, though. I suspect it was more to do with checking general fan response coupled with no real intention of including her anyway. The only other option I could see for her was to get killed (for being too nosy) about the new Chief D.A., probably one Harvey Dent, replacing the dead guy. And that would turn her into another refrigerator victim. Ugh.

I was reading an article somewhere where a publicity guy was watching a video where she was supposed to be promoting Batman but was talking about TC so much that they didn't get around to Batman til the interview was like 3/4 over. The exec was horrified, naturally.

You've got to love the fact that common sense will tell anyone who's ever seen a Batman movie that the female characters never last more than one movie and they don't even really need a cover story, but the one that gets out is that they're sick of all the bad publicity. *snerk*

Well, Batman canonically doesn't do long term relationships.

The movie was set up so Rachel blew Bruce off because she wanted the "old" Bruce, not Batman-with-a-Bruce-suit.

Katie can't act her way out a wet paper bag with a razor and a compass.

And yes, we need Harvey Dent in the DA job. [I'd adore to see Tommy Lee back in the role playing it straight up instead of stupic manic]

SECONDED. I mean, for God's sake, just let him laugh at the casting director and if they don't sign him, FIRE THE CASTING DIRECTOR.

Tommy getting the gig again would be cool. Bitchin', in fact, given how SERIOUSLY these guys are taking the franchise. I'd be all over it.

Unfortunately, given the timeline, they'd probably want someone who at least looks closer to Bale's age.. hey, there you go! Give Joker to Hamill and let Crispin Glover (the other Joker favourite) take Harvey!

Am I the only one who spent the last scenes staring in horror at Katie Holmes' nipples? I mean, Christ, I was half-expecting it to turn out that she was a Fembot about to gas Bruce in the face.

YES!
Definately!

I don't want to appear to be condoning the lack of female parts in the film, but I think that her character could have quite easily been named Harvey Dent. Then the permanent effects of the drugs could have been another shovel full of guilt piled onto Batman/Bruce. 'coz what is he without guilt.

Dear Hollywood,

Pssst. Are you listening? Are you? Lean closer...that's good, closer...perfect. Okay, here's the scoop:

BATMAN DOESN'T NEED A FUCKING LOVE INTEREST.

Got that? No? Argh. *facepalm* Next time I bring a megaphone.

No love,
.-=K=-.

Hell, let Billy Dee Williams be Harvey Dent again; he was in the first Burton Batman. I say let the man have his day in the sun.

And I'm not holding my breath, but let's have the next love interest be Silver St. Cloud--the wealthy socialite who knew Bruce was Bats, but didn't really care that much.

So long as they can get Cillian Murphy back in any way, shape, or form, I'll be a happy girl. Also, I second Steve Buscemi as the Joker. Also, Angelina Jolie in the catsuit. Just think that one over for a moment. I'll wait until you find your heterosexuality again.

Can you imagine how twisted and amusing it would be to have Billy Dee and Mark in a flick like that together? *giggles insanely*

I really do hope they give Joker to Mark. Most people don't know the man can ACT, since voicework means they don't see his face - his career would probably wind up taking off like a sonofabitch if they let him do his Joker where everyone could see it.

I think they're confused because they're making a new Batman movie and they're using the same actor for Batman.

Saw a preview for Red Eye right after coming out of Batman Begins last night and was amused by the coincidence of seeing Cillian again so quickly. Good lord, the man looks like Tom Welling's evil older brother.
