The World Trade Center trailer -- Okay, I'm not the biggest fan of either Oliver Stone or Nicolas Cage (except for naming his kid after Superman, which is equal parts terrifying and awesome), but Maggie Gyllenhaal and Maria Bello and it looks respectable enough. And the shots of the tower collapsing from inside? Jesus.

And now for fic recs ...

Out of Nowhere, by [livejournal.com profile] iphignia939 (Top Chef RPS, Harold/Stephen) -- Oh, I think we all know that once Stephen found out about the Shafer, he totally made out with Harold, if only to get his grubby little paws on it. Heh.

Geography for Beginners, by [livejournal.com profile] sevenfists (WB RPS, Jared/Jensen/Sandy) -- Total porn without plot featuring Jsquared and Jared's adorable girlfriend, and thank God for that. I think Sandy comes right after JDM on the list of people in this fandom who definitely aren't getting enough fictional sex. (Aaaaaand now I have an absurd desire for Jeff/Sandy fic. I'll just be over here, afraid of my own brain.)

Sharing the Wealth, by [livejournal.com profile] keepaofthecheez (WB RPS, Jared/Jensen) -- Jared's a kinky bitch, and that clip of Jensen in the kimono from Blonde ... well, it's inspirational. ;)

Physics Club, by [livejournal.com profile] florahart (The Breakfast Club, Brian/Bender) -- Because there isn't enough Breakfast Club fic on the planet, particularly of the smutty variety.

In Want And Sympathy, by [livejournal.com profile] iamstealthyone (Supernatural, Dean and Sam) -- Dean gets sick and Sam takes care of him, but like always with the Winchesters, it gets more complicated after that.

Burden of Proof, by [livejournal.com profile] daygloparker (The Office US, Dwight, Jim/Pam) -- The events of the last parts of the season finale from Dwight's point of view. Totally in character and giggleworthy. (Heh. "Lackawanna" isn't that hard, comparatively, not for around here.)

Sensuous Life, by [livejournal.com profile] kbk (Supernatural, Sam/Jess) -- A hot look at Sam and Jess's relationship.

Stumbling Across Its Bleak Ending, by [livejournal.com profile] esorlehcar (Supernatural, Sam/Dean) -- Following the events of the finale, Dean leaves Sam for his own good, but it's never that easy.

The End of the Summer, by [livejournal.com profile] mcee (Supernatural, Dean/Jess) -- On a standard clandestine visit to Stanford, Dean inadvertently meddles with Fate. Heh. There's not nearly enough Dean/Jess on the planet to make me happy. Mmm-hmm. *clutches story happily*

Fic recs left: 459 fic recs

Tomorrow night, I go back to working on the House of Wax recap, working on [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon (and my own assignment ... see icon), and trying to get rid of my mid-workshift writer's block. ARGH.

Also, YAY FOR NEW ICON. (That and many other beyond awesome Office icons here.)

I actually didn't like the World Trade Center trailer much, and no, it wasn't because of the material. It just wasn't very compelling. Just looking at Nicholas Cage makes me think "think will be a stupid movie." Which isn't fair to him, I know, but that's how my head works. Anyway, it's sad when the most compelling shot of the trailer for me is the one where people see the shadow of a plane, because it was shot right by the Port Authority bus station, at a spot where I've been 100 times. The recognition was what made it awful for me, not anything inherent in the filmmaking.

God, I'm rambly today. Sorry.

I agree... the Port Authority shot was what got me... because I've been there so much and because the instant before everything happens is creepy. But the movie itself - I would never watch it, I have a feeling that Hollywood will go for the 'emotional' moments and turn it into an action movie at the same time. I don't know how to describe it, but I definitely don't need to see it.

::watches trailer::

Well, that looks a lot more emotionally manipulative and schmaltzy than the trailers for United 93.

Are they firemen or cops?

But hey, is that the guy from Crash? Cause I adored that movie, and his pariticular story arc STOMPED ON MY HEART AND TRIED TO SHATTER IT.

I actually thought the shots of the tower collapsing weren't too realistic, if you watch the actual footage from inside you can barely see anything. I wish they hadn't made this movie at all but they probably made it all 'Hollywood' dramatic and emotional. I wouldn't see United 93 and I won't see this, I wonder how many people will.

damn...i cried at the trailer...seriously...didnt expect to...it may have been the music.

whoo...i think this movie looks more painful than United 93. But then ive only seen the trailers so...its probably about equal.
