Ask me a question and I'll answer it, or at least try to.

(You know, within reason. Personal info's off-limits, but other than that, go nuts.)

Outside of fandom space, what do you think about slash? How do you see it in RL? Does it affect the way you see the world in any way? Do you find it harder to relate to other women, or family or friends because they aren't aware of slash? Does it change the way you think of homosexual relationships?

Um, that's like, all one questions split open and exposed so it's more obvious, what I'm trying to get at. I hope.

What do you get out of writing?

From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Oh, it amuses the hell out of me. :)

I mean, it's the thing I do best and other people seem to like it, but .. yeah. I find myself getting a little giggly at the thought of the Books of Boggs getting published and anybody trying to find any deep meaning in them, because I've been in fandom for years so I know there would be meta AND I'm writing them so I know what could come out of them. And yet I'm mostly just writing an adventure story with magic to make myself laugh. "Look, I can make a monster run through the Steamtown Mall! *snickers*"

writing questions...

Pen or Pencil?

Paper or Computer?

Save or ditch work you're not happy with?

Mmm, let's see ...

Pen. Gel pens, if I can help it. I'd rather scribble something out with gel pens than erase with pencil and eraser.

Paper for story notes, ideas, whatever, and the computer for actual content, for the most part.

Oh, I always save everything. You never know when it'll come in handy. :)

Stealing mostlyharmless's idea...somewhat...

Who would win in a fight and why? Mal Reynolds or Dean Winchester?

Date: 2006-07-10 08:00 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Oh, God. Just looking at those two in the same sentence makes me realize that they're almost the same guy separated by five hundred years. Heh.

I really want to say Dean out of loyalty, but I have to go with Mal. Although Dean would put up one hell of a fight until Mal took him down, and then the two of them would start talking and realize they have a lot in common, and after they went drinking together Mal would offer him a job in his crew, and Dean would take one look at Serenity and be really jealous.

Date: 2006-07-10 08:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alieneyes.livejournal.com
Funny thing about that is me and my friend Ash (notthequiettype) had a chat about these two shows and we both agreed that Mal and Dean were the same and that Serenity=Metallicar.

And that we both needed a fic ending with Dean saying "at least were still flyin'". Yes, if and when it's created we would die. Of Squee.

Dude. Dean would totally join his crew. Now, who would win in a fight, Jayne or Dean? (Sorry, ending up to be more than one question, if that is alright)

Date: 2006-07-10 08:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Oh, I think I'll back Dean on that one. I mean, Jayne's good with a gun and huge, but if they're going at each other hand-to-hand, Dean's definitely got an advantage there because he's been sparring against Sam (who's the same height and not much smaller than Jayne) for years. And he took Sam down in the pilot, and while Sam gave as good as he got, I'm not sure Jayne could do the same on that count. Jayne would go for blunt force and strength and Dean's been trained better than that.

On the other hand, River would fucking trounce Dean, but he'd enjoy every minute of it. ;)

From: [identity profile] alieneyes.livejournal.com
And after he's done fighting Jayne, he'll start ragging on Simon for being a geek...Haha

Thanks for the answers!!

God willing, if I could make an income doing it, that would rock. Although in all honesty, I don't need to be rich and famous or anything. All I want is to be able to walk into a library and bookstore and see a book with my name on it on a shelf. That's it. Anything after that is icing on the cake. As long as I got to write all the time and have fun doing it, that's all I care about. :)

How many story ideas cross your mind that you don't pursue? I mean, you seem to be so prolific with all the fanfic you post as it is, so I'm curious.

Date: 2006-07-10 07:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
God, I wouldn't even begin to estimate. I always say I'm easily bored, and that's an understatement. I mean, I write down as many story ideas as I can remember, but I run by them in my head so fast a lot of stuff slips by. A lot of it's for original fic, a lot's for fandoms I think about writing in and never getting to, etc.

If I won the lottery, it's probably a safe bet I would never leave my computer chair. Sad, but true.

Date: 2006-07-10 07:54 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Hmm, let's see ...

1. The *headdesk* one -- Which is my FAVORITE. I've been looking for one like that for ages, because I think that all the time, and that one is perfect.

2. The Boo "Praise the Lord!" one. Because it works so much better than YAY!.

3. A tie between the cap of Diana and Marco from The 4400 kissing and the animated one of Jim and Pam from The Office kissing, because both kisses still make me squeal with glee.

From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Well, if we're excluding sex -- because that one is obvious -- I haven't gotten to travel half as much as I've ever wanted to. I've never left the country, I've never been west of the Mississippi, I've only been south of DC for longer than a couple of days about seven or eight times in my life. I mean, when the wildest place I've ever been was New Orleans -- which, granted, I adored -- that's saying something.

Where did/do you come up with some of your "catchphrases" (IE: Headdesk, flails, etc.)? Were they stolen from somewhere else, or did you just get a flash of insight one day?

Date: 2006-07-10 07:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com
Well, the *headdesk* thing is just something I picked up from other people, and the flailing thing I say a lot. (Although it's more like "make with the Muppet arms and flailing," because ... well, sometimes I do. :))

Oh, yes. I don't comment a lot -- since I've hit the 750-friends limit and would friend even more back if I could, commenting on everybody would mean skipping out on things like food and sleep and work. But I give a quick read to my friends list every day.

Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (my one-track hormones at work), and Eliza Dushku. I'm pretty sure a group orgy with those four would fry my synapses, like having all of the sex I was ever going to have all at the same time. :)

1. Roughly how many people have come up to you somewhere on the internet and said "Hey, I'm a virgin too!"? Do you think there's more of us out there than popular estimates?

2. You're very prolific. Do you push yourself to meet your wordcount/writing goals, or feel like you just can't stop? Or both, of course.
