apocalypsos: (batshit insane)

Well, I've done my part to create another Project Runway fan. That girl at work who wanted to see it was informed last night that starting at four today they're rerunning the entire season and promptly flailed like crazy. HEEEE.

Apparently, I'm getting a free cell phone. My dad got one from work so he doesn't need the one they got him on the family plan. Well, that's cool. It's got to be better than a crappy Tracfone, that's for goddamn sure. And I don't even have to pay for it. YAY!

Tonight's plans -- pizza, Pepsi, Project Runway and finishing the synopsis. Yeah, I know that last one doesn't fit the theme. Don't care. Getting it done or going insane ... those are my options.

And now, fanfic writing meme boosted from a couple of people on ye olde friends list:

Keyboard or biro?
Pen and paper for story notes and plotting and sketching out ideas, keyboard for actually writing the story.

Beta or no beta?
Usually I don't use a beta for fanfic. I should and I know I should, but I'm a very very bad person. Plus, I'm usually so giddy I finished a fic that up it goes onto the LJ. For stuff for ficathons, though, I make a point of getting a beta. If I'm writing for somebody else, I'm going to make sure it's neat.

Plot?
Honestly, most of my plots start off as a concept and kind of trip and fall into a plot along the way.

Title?
I get a lot of them from song titles. When my MP3 player was still working -- *grumbles* -- I'd just put it on shuffle and listen until a phrase struck me. Most of the time I don't get the title before I get the story idea, but sometimes a song lyric just strikes me the right way and I go from there.

Smushy or smutty?
I try not to be too smushy but it really depends on the pairing. Bobby/Marie can turn out a little smushy sometimes, although post-X3 it's questionable.

Summary?
I try to go with a non-spoilery line from the story or something that doesn't give too much away. I don't know about anybody else, but I don't like stories where the entire summary is just the plot spelled out. Give me a little mystery here.

Funniest fic?
Feed Me To The Tabloid Monster. I still can't believe I wrote MPREG. Heh.

Most popular fic?
Ghost in the Shell. I still get a little shocked when that still gets attention.

Most fun to write?
Dude, all fanfic is fun to write. That's the point. :) (The Books of Boggs, on the other hand, is fun and work all at the same time. Except for the synopsis, which is WOOOOOORK.)

Best and Worst?
Oh, man, I am so skipping this question. I can never decide on either of those.

Coulda Been Contenders?
'Cause Islands Are A Girl's Best Friend and An Unbearable Lightness of Brain Cells, both of which are big reasons why I don't write WIPs anymore. Anymore, it's either I'm finished and I post or I don't.

Strengths
Uh, fucked-up plot ideas? Oh, and dialogue.

Weaknesses
Being doofy enough not to get a beta for every story, I suppose.

Dirty little secrets
I don't know, I kind of think the Project Runway smut was the closest I've ever had to a dirty little secret, and I'm not even all that concerned by that anymore.

I meant to ask if the 1.5 challenge is still on. Have people been submitting stories? I'm craving long, plotty fics.
