So I usually put on the Film Scores station on Yahoo! Launchcast while I'm writing and try to guess which movie the music is from.

I just recognized music from Hot to Trot.

The clock counts down for the writers on the show to the start of the next show so they know how long they have left until they have to get everything finished. Matthew Perry's the head writer, and when his character Matt sees the clock in his new office the conversation goes like this:

Matt: Oh, man, no wonder [the old head writer] went crazy. How did it know?
Danny (the producer): Know what?
Matt: Exactly how much time was left in the week.
Danny: Yeah, it's a miracle of technology that we've invented a device that can count backwards from seven.
Matt: But it was off.
Danny: It has a battery.
Matt (creeped out): So it always knows.
Danny: Don't endow the thing with special powers, Matt. It's a clock.

Then later, as soon as the first sketch of the show finishes, it resets back to seven days and counting until the next episode.

That thing? TERRIFYING.
