I may have made a mistake.

See, my mom has this cat. Well, she has seven, but one of them, Otis ... he's kind of the victim. He's got fucked-up teeth which are probably going to have to get pulled and he's in pain all the time, so all of the others take advantage of the situation and beat the crap out of him. He's so afraid of them all he hides and doesn't even come out from the bedrooms to use the litter. He's not mean, just terrified.

So today ...

Mom: "I wish you could have cats in your apartment. I would pay for the food and litter if you'd just keep him at your place."
Me: "Hey, you talk Leonard (my landlord) into it and I'll take him."

My mom can be really persuasive when she wants. I have a feeling I'm going to get a phone call in the next few days saying, "When can you take the cat?"

Not that I don't want him. I'd totally take him in if I were able, although what I really hope for is that taking him in and away from all those other boys would loosen him up some and make him more social. He's not exactly a lap cat right now. (That's not Otis in the icon, by the way. That's Tucker. He's so social he's practically a debutante.)

In other news, I have to hem an entire skirt by hand before the con. *sigh* I need to ask Santa for a sewing machine.

EDIT: I feel like I should add that Otis looks like he has Jack disease. You know, like Robin Williams in Jack, where he's a three-year-old cat with prematurely gray fur and awful teeth. It's hysterical. Even the vet was like, "He's only three? Seriously?!" Heh.

Dude, my mother put a hat and a scarf on him and he not only let her do it, he fell asleep with it on and never tried to take it off. Tuck will put up with ANYTHING.

Oh, poor Otis! (I could take him, except I can't keep pets in my flat, so...)

Perhaps once poor Otis' teeth are pulled, he'll feel better and start defending himself -- then you won't have to take him in. We had a 12 year old cat, Indy, who we thought was getting on in year because he was acting like a senior citizen, but once we realized his teeth were infected and he was in pain, and the vet pulled 13 teeth, he reverted to acting like a kitten again.
