Eeeeee! I so have to get this movie before Christmas comes. This trumps "It's a Wonderful Live" in my house, and I'm talking even after twenty hours worth of Ralphie on TNT.

You know, one day I'm going to meet a nice young man and bring him home to meet my parents for Christmas, and he's going to be under the impression we're a nice normal family right up to the point where Scut Farkus goes after Ralphie in the alley and my entire family pops out of bedroom, basement, and bathroom like a Broadway musical chorus to scream, "Randy lay there like a slug. It was his only defense," at the screen.

See, you think I'm kidding. It's kind of like a showing of Rocky Horror if the audience suddenly realized they didn't look all that good in their underpants and it would probably be a better idea to interact with a movie that required them to wear bulky sweaters and long johns.

What would be a good snow-themed movie to wear bulky sweaters and long johns too?

hehehehe

well then maybe you should consider this (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000C6ECF/qid=1066517765/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-2442831-0446257?v=glance&s=toys) as a Christmas present for your family.

I'm planning on getting my brother one for xmas even though his wife will kill me but it's like I told her "if you don't tell me what you want then you got to settle for what I find". besides I think it will look nice sitting next to the three stooges cookie jar they got the year before last.

*eg*

You don't know me but...

They have that DVD at Wal-Mart already... just like them to have Christmas stuff in early October. Odd thing is, they seem to have completely gotten rid of their Lego stuff... except for the Spider-Man movie stunt set thing, and even that's on a clearance end-cap...

Jean Shepherd lives!

A Christmas Story is based on the book "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" by Jean Shepherd. He also did the narration in the movie, in fact A Christmas Story is supposed to be autobiographical (he's Ralphie!) I grew up listening to Shep on the radio every week night during the 70's and into the 80's; he had 45 minutes in which he would just talk about whatever he wanted to talk about: usually he told stories about when he was a kid. I always love seeing that others have discovered his work, he was the best-kept secret in American Humour until everyone fell in love with that wonderful movie! He did 4 plays for American Playhouse on PBS in the 70's, I wish they'd show up on DVD one of these days.
