I wonder what it says about me that I stayed up all night to watch Seconds From Disaster and Air Emergency at four in the morning instead of trying to tape it. And that my major interest in science is when things blow up or people get murdered. Hmm.

On the other hand, I've been working on an AU where Dean left the family when he was a teenager to be a drummer in a band and now he's rich and famous and finances Sam's hunting career. And then there is porn, because God knows there's already rock and roll, right? ;)

EDIT: Hearing other people speak German makes me really want to relearn the language. I just love the sound of it.

See...here's my deal, I LITERALLY couldn't watch the whole first episode of Dexter...something was freaking me out inside. I don't think I'm some homicidal maniac inside, but I tend to "connect" with favorite charachters, espeically if I get into the show etc. And the thought of connecting to someone who kills in such a twisted way...I don't know...something was twirkin' with my psyche...I couldn't keep watching...

So does he kill each week?

Well, he hasn't killed every week, but he has killed most of them. What makes me feel better about connecting with him is that he really is trying to connect with other people in a way that doesn't involve killing them, and he only kills people who've done evil and haven't gotten punished for it. I mean, yeah, he's a sociopath, but he's a nice sociopath. They do a very good job of making him sympathetic, though -- by the time they get to a point where he might get caught, you're crossing your fingers that he'll escape.

I watched the first episode of Dexter, and while it was well-made and well-acted, I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps I prefer my sociopaths to be secondary characters - one of my favorite characters is Edward from the Anita Blake books, after all - or maybe it's something about Dexter's struggle to be "normal"... maybe I prefer my sociopaths not to try and fit in, not to hide who they are and what they are.

I had a year of it in college after I gave up on Spanish. I liked German a hell of a lot better, because my German professor was awesome and because I had a much easier time doing a German accent. I sooooo need a refresher course. :)

I love German too! I'd love to take a referesher course.

When I took it in high school and college I was weird about speaking it - I'm a perfectionist, so I never wanted to say anything wrong. Oral exams were the death of me! But I think I'm much more mellow now.

DEXTER IS LOVE.

I only got to watch the pilot, sadly, but after ten minutes of it I wanted to marry him. Ow, my new hero!

German is a damn fine language. Glad to finally meet someone who agrees with me. It's all about rythmics and girl, I think I fell in love with it when I first heard one of Heinrich Heine's poem.
