So, let's do the math.

If I don't go anywhere for the next two weeks other than work, and don't buy any more food, and don't go out to the bar and strip club for my co-worker's birthday this weekend, and don't buy my mother another Christmas present, and pretty much just don't spend any money at all between now and the end of the month, I should have JUST enough to pay for my car payment, my insurance, and my rent.
Brilliant.
Have I mentioned how much I love being poor?
(Of course, this is if I don't manage to unload my old car between now and then, but with my luck I'm not about to rush to the store, you know what I mean?)
EDIT: Do you think it might be a good idea to compile a collection of CSI fanfic for my mom to read? I mean, I have ink, paper, and a really nice report cover, and yeah, okay, it's cheap but it's not like I can afford expensive and she knows it. (In which case, is there a CSI version of

Date: 2006-12-14 08:52 pm (UTC)I know there are other good stories out there; if she'd like Catherine/original character, there's DixieHellCat's good series here (http://www.geocities.com/marcmarc2/fanfic2.html) (scroll down to the CSI stories section). I've only read the first two as I didn't know there were more, but I thought them quite good.
Good luck...

Date: 2006-12-15 02:38 am (UTC)Introduction To Management is hands-down my favorite CSI gen fic out there. Grissom-centric, team-fic, earlyish in the series. Slight mention of Grissom/Sara UST, but no more than canon.
Birds of a Feather is an adorable lab tech fic. I have so much love for those geeks. Since your mom's not about slash, you could just "forget" to print the last paragraph/section (not much of a loss, IMO) and it's entirely gen...
Sometimes The Cliché Is True. A series of drabbles, one for each character. Nothing wildly original, but good characterizations all around, and I love Greg's drabble a lot.
Cover Me--gen, Warrick & Nick friendship. Sweet without sap, great Nick voice, and a rare well-done Warrick-POV.
All The Way To Reno. Has Grissom/Catherine friendship/relationship. It's okay, but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for.
untitled recipe challenge -- Again, probably not what you're trying to find for your mom, and it's a tad bit of slash, but...it's Brass-POV, and I'm weak like that.
Off to See the Wizard -- Really interesting Greg piece. It turns a touch slashy at spots, but it's worth a look.
Flowers -- Alright. I'm a sap. But it's cute! And totally gen, Catherine and Grissom.
