Date: 2006-12-24 06:59 pm (UTC)My parents? Give me Christmas and birthday cards from the dogs. Written in strangely neat handwriting for something purporting to come from the animals that ate many of my mother's books, also her office chair, and buried two pairs of her glasses in the bottom of the garden.
I'm giving them presents this year. A squeaky toy each, wrapped in torn, scrunched-up Christmas paper.

Date: 2006-12-24 07:09 pm (UTC)So, in turn I do the same to my mom. Give her stuff from "Santa" and the pets.
Even stranger? My mother buys presents for her animals and WRAPS THEM. Seriously. I always point out that the lack of opposable thumbs makes it a little hard for the dog and cat to unwrap shit.
Parents are strange creatures.
Well, shhhhhh...

Date: 2006-12-24 09:16 pm (UTC)My mother's policy is a strict "If you deny Santa, you get nothing." Therefore my brother and I have just learned to grin and bear it.

Date: 2006-12-25 04:29 am (UTC)But this year, I'm spending the night (just like all my nights) at my grandmother's (not the one we normally stay with on Christmas eve), so I get to play Santa by putting out stockings for Grandmother & her sister.
