I am at Panera with my laptop.

BLISS.

In more annoying news, Getty Images is fining people for unauthorized use of their photos. Uh, isn't that huge-ass stack of new SPN behind-the-scenes pictures Getty Images? In which case ... *grumbles*

Hum. These are all watermarked low-res, I don't think they can stop them floating around. I don't even think they can claim rights for those pics--but well, who knows they're gonna be a big asshole. *grumbles*

Well, they're a stock photography site, not a royalty free stock photography site. Getty acts as a middleman between photographers and advertisers - they're where people go when they need an image for an advertisement and can't take it themselves, for whatever reason. The watermarked images are preview images not intended to be used (you purchase the big shiny high res ones that are), and they're completely within their rights to stomp on people who use them without paying for them. It's robbing them, the photographers, and the models themselves of their hard-earned buckaroonies. :)

My fiance went to art school and had many a lecture on just this type of thing.

I'm in graphic design field myself, I understand that they CAN. But 72-96dpi pics smaller than 600px and unprotected? They are equivalent for free flyers and give aways. If not used to profit, they know they can't really do anything. Only things they can do, are enlarging watermarks and scare us off by fining. For the case of SPN behind scenes, the photographers are hired by the network and they are totally happy that it's gaining free and voluntary publicity. Gettyimages are just pissed that internet users don't need hires pictures thus they don't get money.

Even the royalty-free pics aren't free. You pay for them once, and then you don't have to keep paying for their use. Some people got fined for using such images.

Your icon is fascinating and yet somehow completely and utterly abhorrent.

CAN'T. STOP. STARING.

MAKE. IT. STOP.

OR DON'T.

I'M NOT SURE.

I'm so bummed. I just dumped some of my favorite icons because they came from Gettyimages.
