But thanks to the Zen -- I can watch while I'm doing the dishes! *flails* -- I have now finally gotten a chance to start watching Battlestar Galactica.

And while I'm pretty sure I won't be writing fic for it (there's two things I'm reluctant to touch due to the fact that I suck at 'em, and that's the military and science I can't just bullshit), I've got to love a fandom that nukes almost everything right off the bat. :)

I am about to commence sounding like an ad, but: it's the best show--but which I mean, in terms of complexity and plot and dynamic--on television. There are a few episodes that are clunkers, but the thing is, even THOSE do not insult me, and are better than much of what's on. There is not one character--not one--that is not gray. I mean, there's a range of gray from kinda silvery to kinda mostly dark, but there is no one character whose ethics are unquestionable, and not one who is irredeemable.

There is pretty, sure (see icon), but why I am still watching is the immensely complicated (but not soapy) relationships of the characters--all of them. They piss each other of. They fight. They argue. They love each other except when they hate each other, and nothing is easy and...OH YAY only another 12 days to the next new episode OMG.

Yes, yes BSG is awesomeness, innit? I mean, even the bad episodes are good because of the PIOLOTS factor, and Helo, and Sharon/Boomer, and Caprica 6, and Madame President and yes.
