I watched about the first three episodes and it didn't stick with me. I thought America Ferrera (sp?) did a wonderful job; she was very entertaining. But the rest of the show didn't hold up for me-- it had some stupid plots, and the villainous woman was almost cartoonish, like Cruella DeVille from Disney. And it wasn't funny-- I didn't laugh or giggle.


Does it get better? I didn't think it deserved to win over The Office, but my flist does seem to like the show. Does it improve, get funnier or smarter?

Oh, it's gotten ridiculously funny with every passing episode. It really is supposed to be that campy and silly -- it's a ripoff of telenovelas, so God knows it's not supposed to be based in the least on reality.

I watch The Office for the painful embarrassment laughs and Ugly Betty for the part of me that dies laughing at soap operas. :)

ABC.com streams the episodes. They're all up there from the beginning of the season, and I've never had much of a problem with them stalling.

Spent entirely too much time today catching up on the episodes. Just finished the last one.

Is the actor for Henry also that cutey from Jake 2.0? He looks so familiar.

So... do you think the show is setting things up so that in a few seasons Betty and Daniel will get together? Their friendship is pretty solid, even if Daniel takes more than he gives.

Overall, the show has gotten funnier with repeated viewings. There's still several things about it that I don't go for (the entire fashion industry, for example), but Betty continues to be a great lead and the other characters, particularly Amanda and Marc, have grown on me. And I do find it funnier in the last few episodes. My favorite scene was when Amanda brained Sofia in the elevator.

Oh. My. YAY!

Completely aside from the Mode hijinks, I was so impressed by Hilda's storyline this week. I can empathize with what she's going through: she desperately loves her son, but sorta hates what being a young unwed mother did to her future. And that quick little scene where we saw a sleepy Justin just overhearing his mother? I fully expect him to try to become a perfect son for her now.

I was completely taken by suprise but it was AMAZING. I was just sitting there like, "wwhhaaaat? No fucking way!"

But why does (s)he not like Daniel?? I don't understaaaand.

So looking forward to more of this show.
