Thanks to the lady behind me at the liquor store, I discovered that there's apparently grape vodka. GRAPE-FLAVORED VODKA?! How'd I keep missing this?! Oh, right, because they keep it on the top shelf. Very funny, liquor store. When I get that midlife growth spurt, you and your liquor are going to be sorry.

This is the scary thing. I immediately thought, "I can mix that with 7-Up or Sprite or lemonade and make Purplesaurus Drunks!" I must really miss that Kool-Aid. Heh.

In other news, I was going to just stay up all night for the Oscar noms -- hell, why not? -- but I only made it to four in the morning. Heh. Wasn't like they were going anywhere. I was freakin' THRILLED that Abigail Breslin got nominated. I know she's not going to win or anything, but she was so damn adorable in that movie and I love it when they nominate kids for stuff. I did get a kick out of Dreamgirls not getting a nomination for best picture -- I loved it, but ... *snickers*. I really should see one of the nominated movies I haven't gotten a chance to see tomorrow -- I haven't hit The Queen, The Last King of Scotland, or Babel yet, but if The Departed has been rereleased around here, I am SO THERE. I should also see about getting my grubby little paws on The Devil Wears Prada already, although maybe it's me being blasphemous and I do love Meryl Streep but she can't be Oscarworthy in everything. Seriously, they nominate her for walking into a room.

And now I am going to straighten up my office, maybe make some cookies, and settle in to write fic. :)

Last New Year (2006) I discovered. Raspberry Absolut (I'm tall so I can reach the top shelf, take me shopping I'll have your back) Oh the joy! Mixed it with Ginger Ale, CANDY I tell you CANDY.... It was all good until I noticed the bottle was gone and after everyone left and I tried to go to bed that I could FEEL the earth rotating. In all my years I have never felt the world turn like that. Good times.

How sad is it that I have none of what was nomitated, not even for sound editing kind of stuff. I gotta get out of the house more.

I like mixing cherry vodka with 7-UP or Sprite -- it's cherry limeade and it doesn't even taste like alcohol. I end up drinking four big glasses before I realize I'm wasted. :)

Ooo, rent Little Miss Sunshine if you haven't seen it already. It's really cute and damn funny, too.

Cherry Vodka? Oh man......Just put some sugar on the rim of the glass and it would be like rocket fuel....

*SNERK* I just wanted you to know that I nearly choked with laughter when I read that line. You're SO right.

However, she was very good in that movie XD

Was it actually grape flavoured? because I only know of Ciroc, a vodka made from grapes, but I don't believe that it is grape flavoured.

I could have sworn she said grape-flavored. I just know that as I was walking out the clerk and the lady behind me were talking and all of a sudden she yelled something about grape vodka and went bounding happily back to the shelf. If nothing else, it was amusing to watch. Heh. :)

Oh HELL.
It's bad enough you got me on those damn grape Smirnoff things. Now I actually have to go to a liquor store? In my own city? (Nashville didn't count, yo.)

I'm sending my Betty Ford Center bill to YOU!

(And I share your dismay. I have a BS in FILM fer chrissakes and the only nominee I've seen is Pirates. Bad me.)

You've just reminded me of Infusions of Grandeur. "Two mad scienticians venture to the lab to experiment with infused vodkas." So far they've had apple, caramel, vanilla, coffee, cinnamon, and orange.

Clearly, liquor stores are conspiring to keep you from your grape-flavored vodka.

They are in cahoots with the tall shelves.

I thought the same thing about Streep, too. The biggest complaint for me is Borat in Adapted Screenplay. WAS there even a screenplay for that movie? It should have been The Prestige in that slot instead.

Oh, and Little Miss Sunshine. I absolutely loved the movie, and I'm glad Breslin's up for Supporting Actress, but what does everyone think about Arkin? I thought he was good, but I thought Carrell or Dano should have been in that slot before him.

Well, I thought Streep was Oscar worthy in the Devil Wears Prada XD And I don't think she should win an oscar just from walking into a room (unless it's in fabulous shoes *cough* Just kidding)

I saw The Departed on Sunday on my way home from the Bahamas (it was on the in-flight movie picker thingy on the back of the seat). It was too long for me to watch it on the first leg of the trip, and the flight ended TEN MINUTES before the end of the movie. Soon as I got back on the plane for the last leg, I was so firing it up and fastforwarding to the end.

Fabulous movie. If you can find a way to watch it, do. I spent the whole movie going "Is that...no...who IS that... WAIT THAT'S LEONARDO DI CAPRIO. But it can't be! He can ACT!"
